Alex Pereira Not Interested in Return to Middleweight Division

Should he return to 185?

the thing is, is his chin going to struggle against those bigger hitters? he already looked much more tame vs Jan then he ever did at 185lbs. at 185lbs he was the hammer and everyone else was the nail and you could see that play out in almost all of his UFC fights. against Jan it didn't really look like he had the superior firepower the way it did at 185lbs.

I don't think his chin will struggle against bigger hitters when they're his size. I don't think anyway. There's a legitimate argument to be made that cutting an additional 20 lbs makes him more vulnerable at 185 than 205.

Yeah I've heard people say that cutting weight can affect your chin, heard it in reference to Dillashaw v Cejudo

A man his size and frame, I could only imagine how terrible the weight cut is. Stay at 205 and hopefully for him become champion. Defend the belt about 3-4x and than challenge the HW champ. That's if he's interested.

I mean other than being overall weaker, your brain cushion is dependent on being hydrated. Your brain also actually shrinks slightly as you dehydrate as well.

i think the weight cut did, but that doesn't say how well he's going to take the hits from people like Jiri

Whether it's a rematch with Izzy or a rematch with Strickland, he has plenty of availability there.

MW NEEDS Poatan but Alex doesn't need MW.

Of course he should. Whoop Strickland again and be the champ. Who doesn't want to be a champ?

I think he only has a few fights left in him anyways.

If he manages to capture the LHW belt he should defend it and maybe try to go for the triple crown and challenge the HW champ... something he was more than willing to do in kickboxing but never happend.

He already beat Jan who was the worst matchup for him at 205, no point in killing himself going back to 185. Is Alex supposed to be scared of 205 strikers like Jiri and Jamahal? Lol

actually I could see Ankalaev giving Alex a tough fight, but the ufc doesn’t care for him so he’ll have to get a huge streak going in order to get that fight.
Jamahal gives him problems.
