Sandhagen vs O'malley is more exciting to me because they are both top dogs trying to get into the title picture.

I know Sandhagen wanted to fight earlier but he missed his chance to fight Dong it seems so might as well wait for O'malley then.

Champions who just lost their belts typically fight a rising contender if they don't get an automatic rematch. Aldo doesn't deserve to fight anyone in the top 5 right now, you may not like how Bautista fought but the UFC doesn't need to ignore the result & pretend Aldo won by giving him a much higher ranked opponent.
