Aldo Turns Down Rematch Against McGregor

You are completely out of your mind if you don't think Aldo sustained a concussion.

Conor hits like a truck and he smashed him with his signature left and then followed up.

I don't need these guys to die in the Octagon for my entertainment. Some of you people gross me out.

Aldo just got blast-KO'd in December. He shouldn't even be sparring yet, let alone taking a fight.

2 months is enough to recovery from a simples KO and not having to cut much weight. Yeah, Aldo is playing safe, but nobody achieves greatness by playing safe.

He actually said, 'This is the fight Conor wanted'.

So... Conor turned down Cerrone, Pettis and a couple others.

This is too stupid for words.

These people are human beings with real lives, families and consequences. Everything we know about traumatic brain injury says the worst possible thing you can do is get repeat trauma after a concussion.

No, 2 month isn't enough time to fight after getting blast-KO'd by a guy who hits like a truck.

He was medically suspended until two weeks ago - he shouldn't even be sparring yet, let alone walking into the Octagon.

Do you really want these people to get brain damage for your entertainment? Stop and think about it.

Its patently retarded to even ask Jose.

He was medically suspended until literally last week. His medical suspension was also 'no contact' through the end of January. You are not supposed to get knocked dead with a KO like that and go back into training.

The guy was medically suspended from even sparring until a few weeks ago, he should be busy letting his brain heal. This is how you end up with traumatic brain injuries, repeated concussions.

If Aldo's team, coaches, managers let him take that fight they should all have been fired.

He should begin sparring again, lightly, sometime in the next month or so, then take it very slowly. Summer or fall is an appropriate time for him to come back.

You're absolutely right. The thing is though, I feel like you are looking at it from a doctors perspective. Pettis got his orbital bone broke in the first round vs RDA and couldn't see out of that eye. He probably shouldn't have continued to fight, but he fought 4 more rounds. There are a million examples when a fight should probably be stopped, but they don't stop it. Or a fighter should back out of a fight, but he doesn't. Back in the day fighters would have multiple fights in one night. That's what being a fighter has been. Not saying it's the right way of thinking, and I feel like it's changing, especially with new information, but the majority of fighters have that fight at all times mentality. Aldo was presenting himself as that type of person, when in reality he pulls out more often than most fighters, and is very calculated with his approach. Either he trains to hard, or is injury prone, but most likely he wants to be well prepared for a fight and wants to fight healthy (reasonably so). It's fine to be like that, but when you and your team want to present as a person who will fight anytime, anywhere, it's fair for us to call you on it when it's not true.

Then its kindof a dick move by Dana to say that Aldo/Frankie refused to fight when they were still recovering from injuries or medical suspensions.

Of course it is. But as you can see by the reactions in this thread, Dana knows the calibre of the fan base very well.

uhh, one guy had 10 days or prepare, other has injury

why not the 155 grappling monster khabib? why not a dynamic striker with slick ground game in pettis? why not the big striker who just had a fight and was injured and already in shape cerrone?

He said he was training just in case. Jose was ready to step in to avenge his 13 second fucking pussy loss.

Now we know Aldo is full of shit.

So how exactly would this fight have worked for Edgar? Hes already the number one contender at FW, so he should give that up to take a one off fight at LW, against the FW champ on short notice, and even if he wins he doesn't get the belt? Why waste his shot, he gets it later anyway with much better conditions

If Aldo's coach, manager or team didn't tell him straight to his face 'you absolutely do not take this fight' they should all be fired.

It's not cute or quirky that Chuck Liddell has trouble putting together sentences. This is real life with real consequences. Everything we know about concussions says 'give your head a break' as the single most important thing.

He was medically suspended up until February 11th which is meant to protect fighters, and frankly, isn't enough time.

I'd like these guys to have a life after fighting and the mental capacity to enjoy it. Aldo shouldn't even have resumed heavy sparring yet, let alone booking a fight.

Summer/Fall is an appropriate time for him to return. He shouldn't even be in heavy sparring yet.

You need to separate the part in your head where you compartmentalize campaigning for a rematch and what is legimiately dangerous for his long term health.

He was - literally - medically suspended until two weeks ago.

It is stupid at face value for him to risk f@$@ng brain damage taking a fight the first week of March.

I'm not saying that he should've stepped in or that it wouldn't have been dumb if he did.

He still shouldn't have said that he was training to step in for RDA knowing that he really wouldn't when it actually came to it.

So it looks like Aldo was nothing but wolf tickets in the end. He didn't want none of that 10 second beatdown again.

These guys literally get locked in a cage for 15 minutes to do unarmed combat until someone is defeated. That is what they do for a living.

Suffice to say they need managers, teammates and coaches to advocate for them. Aldo may want to fight, but he absolutely should not be allowed to fight.

It's outrageous the UFC even asked. He was medically suspended from CONTACT up until 24 days ago. Think about that.

yeah, let's jump in a fight on two weeks notice while he's not training in a weight class above

ok
He's scared. Don't make excuses for him. Conor hasn't been training for aldo either. He isn't confident he's the better fighter. Never really was ducking conor all that time.

lol this. you don't have to hate connor or love aldo to know this is some bullshit.

also, dana threw edgar under the bus for not taking the fight. edgar had surgery like 4 days ago Lol...

Think about it. He says he's been training to step in in the event RDA got injured. You seem to suggest that he wasn't or couldn't have been.

Is Aldo making stuff up or are you? Who's the liar?

People are calling him out on his integrity more than anything, something that's been in question ever since the whole drug test debacle.

Hear me one last time.

If Aldo said he wanted this fight, it is the duty of his manger, coaches and teammates to tell him 'absolutely not.'

Do you need these guys to get brain damage for your entertainment? Would you prefer if they had no managers and coaches to advocate for them when they would otherwise make decisions that are flat out detrimental to their long term health?

These guys willingly lock themselves in a cage to fist fight for a living. They shouldn't be in charge of advocating for their health.
