aikido vs sub-wrestling

The guy who founded Judo talking about the experience that inspired him to create his new art:

Usually it had been him that threw me. Now, instead of being thrown, I was throwing him with increasing regularity. I could do this despite the fact that he was of the Kito-ryu school and was especially adept at throwing techniques. This apparently surprised him, and he was quite upset over it for quite a while. What I had done was quite unusual. But it was the result of my study of how to break the posture of the opponent. It was true that I had been studying the problem for quite some time, together with that of reading the opponent's motion. But it was here that I first tried to apply thoroughly the principle of breaking the opponent's posture before moving in for the throw...

I told Mr. Iikubo about this, explaining that the throw should be applied after one has broken the opponent's posture. Then he said to me: "This is right. I am afraid I have nothing more to teach you."

The guy who founded Aikido talking about the experience that inspired him to create his new art:

... I felt the universe suddenly quake, and that a golden spirit sprang up from the ground, veiled my body, and changed my body into a golden one. At the same time my body became light. I was able to understand the whispering of the birds, and was clearly aware of the mind of God, the creator of the universe.

At that moment I was enlightened: the source of budo is God's love - the spirit of loving protection for all beings ...

Your wit and rationality are not welcome here, sir.

Yes, that was a cool post. But if Ueshiba was so crazy to begin with, how did he get some high level people to follow him? Wasn't Abbe a really good judoka? Abbe beat Kimura in competition.

Are we talking about Aikido? Or Morman religion?

how did hitler do to make 80 million people, some among the most inteligent people in the world, follow him to the destruction of his country? and almost the planet? how did he do to make normal people treat human beings as equals to rats and animals without the least feeling of remorse? People is crazy man, what can I say.

Why are you assuming the guy who "whooped him" is a joker?:icon_neut

He calls himself Grand Master in his own made up style.

He makes no mention of who taught him. Instead his website states:

"Grand Master Altunbas began to travel the world, testing his techniques against the world

He did indeed have some pretty skilled students from other arts. I'm not sure why they chose to train with him, but I'm sure they had their reasons. My guess is that they felt he had something to offer them that they couldn't get in their other training.

It is worth noting that a good amount of his early students ended up distancing themselves and making their own splinter arts separate from Ueshiba's main Aikido school.

i think he rolled against sotiropoulos at white or blue belt

he is BS artist though and almost al of his students left that club due to this

It's saddening that you can't even call a Grand Master whose lineage consists of vague references to ninjas full of shit anymore without someone frowning at you.

What happened to this place?

I'm aware of the history and timing. All I said is that I'm not aware of any formal rule, the people I know that knew Ueshiba never mentioned it, and there are counter-examples (so there was definitely no rule during some of the time). If you've got an actual primary source to indicate otherwise, of course, that would be conclusive.

Looking for more stuff and I'll post when I find it but here is what I was talking about.

"In its early, pre-World War II years, access to Aikido instruction was very exclusive, limited to individuals with proper, personal high-level introductions to Morihei Ueshiba. It was not until the 1950’s, under the leadership of Kisshomaru Ueshiba, the founder’s son and inheritor of the leadership of Aikido, that Aikido was widely taught in Japan."
