The most reasonable explanation is that Aikido doesn't work because it's fundamentally flawed in its approach. That is a lot more reasonable than attributing it to lack of prior experience and WWII which all the other arts seem to have dealt with just fine.

aikido works perfectly, it just teaches something else.

if you want "real battle" proficiency start with a striking art, if you want to know some useful techniques, learn falls, stay in shape and to create a sort of dynamic meditation with your uke, learn aikido

Also I don't really care if people do Aikido anyway in spite of everything. I mean I care a little because I think it's dumb as hell, but they're not training with me so it doesn't really affect my life at all.

Obviously I think it fucking sucks for all the reasons I laid out. If you don't think so, then have fun at the dojo. I promise I won't show up and grab your wrist the wrong way to spoil the fun or anything.

I know the difference between 合　(join, harmonize) and 愛 (love), but homophones are very common and not without importance in japanese (4 is unlucky because sounds like to die, symbolism of Koi carps, etc)

Ueshiba stressed multiple times the connection between aikido and love, it wasn't a coincidence imho

this is the whole point, you say training bjj for sd its stupid, that you ahve "numbers" and your gun for it, well, are you going to shoot someone for an stupid discussion or for getting into a fist fight? what would you do? someone punches you in the face and you just pull your gun out and shoot him? that was very smart, a broken nose for 30 years of prision... you are one smart dude. Wouldnt it be much easir take down bitch slap, problem over? wouldnt just much be easier, take his back choke him out? if you can of course, problem lies, you dont train, then you cant do shit about it...

all this gun stuff is ridiculous, yes its important to have a gun to defend your self in kill or die situations (people breking into your home etc) not to use it for scraps you may get on regular basis on the street... specially if you are a young kid, shit happens no one says you as a youn kid (not talking about you here) should go looking for problems, but as a social human being shit happens every where, specially in school time....

So back to the question, what would you do? stupid example but valid, you are in a tennis game, dude gets mads, jumps the net, punches you in the face? are you going to shoot the dude? yes or no?

I'll tell you what I will try to do, double leg, mount him, beat the fuck out of him... would I be able to do it? I dont know, but pretty sure my chances are way higher than chances of someone who just say, bjj is for pussys, I got my glock for that.

I didnt say he hits you with the raquet, I said he punches you in the face (meaning he is un-arm)

even as silly as it looks, this happens quite often lol... I played tennis and paddle, people get fucking crazy sometimes, I have saw a couple of fights in paddle courts, none of them included the raquet (thanks god) most of the times people are friends, but even if you feel like hitting the other dude, most civilize people wont hit you in the face with a raquet...

Reminds me one time of a fight at a football practice, my s&e coach told me that he was coaching at some school in the ghetto where some kid was mad at another player and he was jawing off to him. he takes his helmet off and says "fight no helmets", he then got hit in the face with a helmet and ko'ed. apparently the other player still had his helmet in his hands and just kept it there before he threw it.

assuming someone will drop a weapon after you tell them to fight is pretty retarded
