Rolled exclusively with one guy, he's preppign for a fight, bigger and stronger than I am with some of the heaviest hips I have ever felt. Legs like tree trunks.
It was sort of a intresting night. In lieu of his up coming fight I gave up my normal top heavy get on top stay on top, find a sub game that I've been working and went ape shit crazy trying to press the pass. For me to play this game takes a lot out of me and I figured I would have to call it early but the cardio held out.
It really turned into a tap fest between us. No idea of who had more, We were both tapping early(he had the fight, I was tired workign out on one hour sleep)
But got the better of more scrambles than normal. But got caught as he is really good at baiting passes and hitting odd ball sub setups. I had to pull out a few of my own and turned to my leg lock game. Since he has great top half control I ended up turning out to deep half and going under more than I ever have. Which simply resulted in a foot race to see who would capitalize first. I got stuck on bottom sprawl some(did I mention his his are heavy So I actually got to work some of my new wrestling based escapes from there, Mixed success. ended up giving up my back more than I wanted.
I almost pulled off my half guard straight arm bar, which on him would have been huge, and a gogo(which I never use) Did get a knee bar, two or three varations of ankle locks, an omo, and some various straight arm bars.
I tapped to an omo, a kimura, and some catch chokes/neck cranks(it seems the more tired I am the more I gag odd but true) I also got caught in a triangle to straight armbar transistion and somehow by an inverted triangle durign a scramble.
I am pleased with tonight as my new wrestling based escapes seem to have merit when I get stuck and can't just turn back under. Also was happy to be ending up on top or a good postion during scrambles more since this is a major weakness of mine Also had a few beatiful armbar escapes where i used speed alot more than usual(i actually felt them coming which hasn't happened on a regular basis since I cut back to once or twice a week)
