50 burpee challenge

Tried again today. Managed 50 straight. New time is 2:07, Very happy with that, but think i may try this one one more time before going for the 100 :D


Very good work! I find that I have a lot of trouble on the 100 burpee compared to the 50 burpee. I worked up to 50 straight, but I'm virtually cashed after that. My best bet is doing something like 30 + 20 + 15 + 10 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5. I really need to be able to do it in less sets than that. Ultimately, I'd like to do something like 40 + 25 + 20 + 15. The rest periods kill my time.

Yeah, I knew it'd be faster doing them straight but I wasn't expecting to knock off 40 seconds. I found by 50 I was getting light headed and just as i stopped my legs nearly came from under me. So I'm not sure how many I would be able to do straight again after a short break, but i doubt it will be alot and will probably start with shorter sets.

That looks like pain! Didnt know you could breath out your ass lol! Seriously thou well done and to be motavated at home in your kitchen!!! Dont even think I could do 50 but now urged on by that will give it ago
 
I used to do 30 in one minute then 45 secs rest and another 30, so i know i can do 1 burpee every 2 seconds and 60 in 2:45.
In a couple of weeks i'll post a time for 50, will be good conditioning for an ammy muaythai match i got in march.

i do 4 sets of 25, i dont know but if you never totally gas i think it improves overall time. never timed myself but i should. its a better work out if you keep going to failure but i think it hurts your time.

Honestly, I don't think I could do 4 sets of 25 in a decent time. I may be able to squeeze out 3 sets, but the 4th would have to be broken up for me.
 
yea i know its tough i just think as long as you dont go real slow the longer you can go without gassing the better if shortest time is the goal. i know with the crossfit 20 minute workouts i find a huge difference between the ones where 1 run through is easy compared to tough. i can go 20 minutes without gassing on those but the ones where the first set is tough are just horrible, i look like im dying.

Just try as many as you can and work from there. My first time i went for 20, 20, 10 then Oblivion reccomended try the 50 so i figured why not give it a go. good luck :)
 
This thread has got me so motivated. I'm gonna try this before I take a shower tonight!

edit. One thing is I can only do about 40 pushups straight, so I dunno if I can do 50 burpees straight but I'll give it ago.
 
4 mins 33.......10 minutes after a 12-minute Cooper test (2670m). I don't think the Cooper test had much to do with the bad time...doubt i can get under 4 minutes. I don't do any bench or pressups these days only OHP, and it's the pressups that killed me. Will do it again in a few weeks time. Until then I'm going to do 10 sets of 10 with rests of 50 seconds or less plus some pressups.
 
3:47. This coming from a guy that used to take almost 20 min to do 100

well done for even doing 100 if that's how hard it was. I'd be about the same. Maybe I'll try this in a few weeks time when I go on holiday.
 
considering the fact that I burn out after the first 15-20 and end up doing them in sets of 3, what is the best way for me to train this? Maybe do another 20 each time I finish 50? Or force myself to do longer intervals even if it means a slower time?
 
Bob, i had a similar probrem when i started doing the 50 burpee challenge, i got to 50 by starting out with 3 sets, before merging to 2 & then slowly edging up to 50, from what i've seen that is the best way to do it...wouldnt worry about time too much until you start hitting 50

Thanks for this. I'm going to start with 3 sets of 20 and try to decrease the rest intervals.
 
yea thats exactly what i did...out of interest how high do most of you guys jump off these??? my style is completley different to that on moonys video, i am alot slower but try to explode off the jump & get more height

If I'm doing them for time I'll try to keep the jump to a minimum so I probably only get an inch or two off the ground. Otherwise I jump as high as I can each time.
 
Ok I am convinced crossfit is an evil cult, however I really liked the soundtrack to the video on the first page does anyone know who the band is they kind of rock
