50 burpee challenge

damn i thought i did decent i gotta work on these then but my second time was 2:58 :DD

and btw lol i think 10 burpees is harder than 100 jumping jacks
 
well i gave this a go yesterday, i usually do 3 x 10 sets of burpees...had no idea i would burn out after about 25 straight! managed to squeeze it to 30 after a short break, took about 3 mins including about 30 seconds break

will post back once i have hit 50, i did these at the end of my workout which probably wasnt a good idea, will try them towards the start & see if it makes a difference (probably wont!)
 
3:16, but I can't promise that I was jumping on the last 10.
 
I do 20 burpees with a 40lb vest on. Then I do my bag work with it on also. I have to try and see how many I can do with out the vest.
 
My strength and conditioning coach can do this in 1:30 something. watched him do it too. He is a absolute machine. He lurks these forums too he should join just to dethrone Machete. :icon_chee
 
My 50 time is: 3:26 with full 12 inch jump and clap above the head.
 
ill try this later.... burpees were easy when i played football and we did them with full pads. But im 40lbs heavier and a 10 years older so they'll probably kill me now lol
 
2:42. I tore through the first 25, then hit a wall and slowed way down. I do them a lot in class, but we do them without the push up. I haven't done them with push ups in at least a year. It's a very different exercise using the whole body.
 
Awesome challenge!!...personally ii do burpees quiet a bit
great for on the road as a supplementary workout.
Sometimes i throw a combination after the jump part.
 
Ive been trying to find the reason why burpees are effective in the faqs but i cant. Whats makes burpees so good? how different is it from 50 burpees vs 100 jumping jacks?

Cmon Are you serious???? This cant be a real question...are you sure you weren't just burping?
Jumping jacks are flapping your arms and bouncing on your toes, burpees are a full jump squat to push up to jump squat as fast as possible. hardly a comparison.

BURPEES are one of the best cardio workouts for fighting, mma. jiu-jitsu...hell just about anything.
My personal record with witnesses is 100 burpees in 4:45, I trained burpees with various other workouts for nearly 3 months before this, my previous attempt was 5:30 and before that 5:45. The key is to time your breathing with your ascent and descent. This is a full jump squat to push up, not a sprawl to get up. Start with sets of 25 and keep them under a minute, jump right into 20 pullups, 30-45 sec. break repeat.
 
I'm new to sherdog but the coach where I train is really big on conditioning so I am going to start trying some of these challenges.
 
I'm down to 2 minutes and 23 seconds now! 50 straight burpees!
 
Age 40, weight 185, 50 Burpees = 3:02

Figure I would start doing little challenges like this on my lifting day.

I just got 2 minutes 17 seconds last night. 50 straight again. Speed is definitely improving.
 
In the same way people run 400m and 800m intervals for speedwork for a 5k, Ive been doing the 50 burpee challenge to take back my 100 burpee title.
I find this harder on the muscles rather than the cardiovascular system, as your going at more of a sprint, with no rest. Ive broken 2 minutes now on this, which could equate simular to a 800m sprint, I know I used to be exhausted after a 800m P.R, this has been great to get som burpee SPECIFIC speed in my legs. Im great at squatting and sprinting, but having the legs close together in the mountain jumper portion of the movement is new stimuli for my body, so this has helped.

Give it a try fellas, it could help your 100 time, great for those who are a little intimidated by the 100 burpee challenge, and as mickey says, get sum speed in dem legz.
