Updizzled. I was too busy getting a bit of marriage to update. Keep the times coming.

how about the 10 burpess challenge

Jin - constantly lowering the bar

i have a question on how you guys are doing the burpees. the way we do them at our academy is with a squat to a pushup to a squat to a small jump. the way i've seen most done is sprawl to a push up sort of and then jump back to standing. how are they being done in the challenge?

quick squat, straight to feet out, chest to floor, push up, feet to where hands are, little jump.

I'm curious how some of the good times do theres. I seem to be stuck. This time I did 20, then 15, then 10, then 5. My time was worse at 3:33. I can't seem to find the best way to do them for time. The most I can do straight through would probably be 30. I have tried a tabata format, but that doesn't give me a great time either as I can only get 8 in per 20 second interval. My goal is to break 7 minutes in the 100 burpee so I'm thinking I need to break 3 minutes in the 50 burpee. Any help would be appreciated.

Well I thought I'd try this today, been trying to get in better shape for about 6 months now so did this to see how I'm going...

Disaster. Left me in agony. Couldn't even include a push up while doing them, and frankly most of the jumps were pathetic at a few inches at most and I'm sure most of the time I kicked my legs back I didn't do it fully.

So in that 50 I didn't even do one correct, and it took me 4 minutes 43 seconds. Rather pathetic. I'll start doing burpees more to kick my ass into better shape I think.

I got 1:35. Damn, that is fucking fun. My arms and legs are burning.

Bump!

It's been a long time since anyone posted in this thread and it looks like the TS hasn't posted here for quite some time but whatever. I did the 50 burpee challenge today and it took me 5:45. Kinda crazy to think that some people did the 100 burpee challenge in the same time it took for me to do 50.

I know I'm under 3 minutes now. I'm trying to get to 50 straight burpees. I think if I do 50 straight, I'd get a little under 2 1/2 minutes. It blows my mind at how fast people can complete a burpee.

omg i completely blew on the 100 challenge ill give this a try later sounds fun

Good idea, the 50 burpee challenge is a good place to start. I did this challenge, rested for a bit, and then did 5x10 burpees with 60 seconds between each set for 100 total. Once I get my 50 burpee time down I'll give 100 a try. At this point I feel like doing 100 would just be cruel and unusual self-punishment.

Ive been trying to find the reason why burpees are effective in the faqs but i cant. Whats makes burpees so good? how different is it from 50 burpees vs 100 jumping jacks?

do 10 and 10 and you'll know.

2 minutes 40 seconds. I did 40 straight and then 2 sets of 5. I can't quite get 50 straight yet.

Just a random question do you guys all run too? or do you do this as your main conditioning? If you were looking to get back into top shape would you do these then add running once your lungs are good to go?

I run one LSD session a week (3+ miles) and one timed run (1-2 miles) or sprints once a week. So basically I run twice a week with opposite intensities. Besides that I do heavy bag work for conditioning about twice a week. The burpees I throw in once or twice a week. It's a pretty even balance between everything. I used to suck at burpees. The only thing that feels similar for me is sprints.

I wrestle a lot and my job is very active plus I HATE running so I try to avoid it. I tried these yesterday and did 25 easy but for no time I will try to time 50 this weekend, also I owe a time in the gut check thread.
