Be fed unranked cans and washed up fighters to pad his record. Seems like that's the way to go now, I think the UFC has learned their lesson with Darren Till and some other prospects, Paddy is not a Conor or Khamzat but he's still young and they'll probably protect him and give him some easy fights to build him up.
The bad thing about it is that he has looked less promising than O'malley and is in a tougher division.

I can see the UFC giving him favorable matchups and slowly building him up. As much as I don't like it, I'm a fan of the baddy so I'm just happy to have him around you know? Def going to give us crazy takes and one liners

"Learned their lesson with Darren Till."

Huh?
What lesson.

Till had 4 UFC fights against unranked guys before facing Cowboy and Wonderboy. At the time those were quality wins and he was granted a title shot.

So I don't understand TS's point at all. What lesson did they learn from Till? Not to give guys a title shot when they beat the number 1 contender?

We’ll see if the marketing works out for him. I’m sure she’ll be fine.

Both are pretty bad, so it ultimately won't matter. Pimblett won't ever see a title shot

'The O'Malley Route'?

Why isn't it the Khabib route? Or the Islam Makhachev route? The Gregor Gillespie route? The Giga Chikadze route? The Merab Dvalishvili route?

In the deepest divisions there's zero reason to throw an up-and-comer at the ranked fighters right away, so this supposed 'route' is much better travelled than jumping lightyears at a time up the rankings.

The only reason this is considered unique to Sean O'Malley is because Sean has caught your imagination and he's living your head.

Didn’t paddy pretty much say more or less that he wants jobber opponents for now… just like omally said

I’m fed up with that whole “build them up slowly, why waste a prospect by throwing them to the wolves too early” bullshit talk. Isn’t that what their fights on the regional scene were for? Not to mention both guys have been doing mma for 10ish years

Omally had his first mma fight almost 10 fuckin years ago(1st amateur fight In 2013). Paddy’s first amateur fight was over 10 years ago (mid 2011) n his first pro fight was in 2012. How much fuggn time do you need to “build up the young prospect slowly?”

If you’ve been doing the sport for 10ish years and you still say you “need time to develop more” then maybe you’re just trying to avoid being exposed at that point. You’re a veteran 10ish years into doing it, not a “young prospect that needs more time to develop more.” If you still only want can opponents 10ish years in then maybe you are the can(crusher/journeyman at best)

Even if he is way passed his prime, if they give Donald Cerrone in hopes of Paddy beating him, it will immediately be better than any of O'Malley's wins.

Yeah Cerrone immediately gives Paddy more credibility than any of the people they are gifting to O'malley

Saw somewhere Paddy is fighting cowboy next. So prolly same route aye!

Probably.

Folks just need to cope with this.

Heard they were gonna fuze into Paddy O’Malley… the biggest douche MMA star the world has ever seen. Stand aside ConRat.

Who they supposed to give him??? Paddy isn’t that good that match him up with competition that isn’t that good.

It’s same thing they do with any prelim fighter with a low ceiling.

Yep, any dude with a low ceiling, or any dude with a background they don't think will be appealing.

It's definitely changed with the Russian Islamic fighters after Khabib's success familiarised everyone with the region as a force in MMA, that's the only reason Khamzat gets to queue jump right now.

But in many Eastern bloc countries, it's still a long, old uphill trek to get their names established with fans outside the hardcore.

Basically, there's tons of reasons they'll slow ball fighters, and it's not all about protecting them.

Paddy vs Cerrone is the right fight.

I'm glad we see paddy fight so we can bear witness to the fitness of the modern warrior

But they will give him cans to hype him up as a good fighter, as he starts winning he won't get tougher competition but just more washed up vets or some random can

He has to get tougher competition eventually otherwise the promotion will never get to cash in.

Conor eventually had to fight Aldo
PVZ eventually had to fight Rose

So what you’re saying isn’t making any sense
