2020 Motorsports thread.

Rodney Childers really had the Indy race figured out. It's good to be pitting right next to the team you're racing for the win. He noticed that the right front tires from Denny Hamlin's car were wearing so he told Kevin Harvick to race him hard. Eventually Hamlin's right front tire failed with a few laps to go and he crashed out of the race.

Harvick is on fire.

It was strange to see all of the tires go down yesterday.

It's a very abrasive track. If the setup isn't right, the tires wear out quickly. It was pretty hot too so the brakes could have been heating the tires to failure.

I like these races with no practice. They seem to favor the drivers who can adjust their driving to what the car is doing. It also favors the better crew chiefs.

Albon needs to be more patient. He was stupid to make a move at that point in the track. He could have made a move on the straight. we see that with the younger drivers. Lewis is a seasoned vet, he Pretty much knows how the cars are going to react in that situation. I thought they were going to have him pass Bottas to see if he can gain more time and finish higher, but Lewis is Bottas’ main rival, the less points for lewis, better for him.

He is checked out. He is making his cash and may give it a go next year in another car. If not, retire.

I doubt Vettel gets another ride. He's 33 and hasn't driven well. He and Red Bull did get reminded of the FIA corona policy after Vettel was talking to people on the Red Bull team after the race. The FIA is very serious about keeping teams separated so they don't have multiple teams getting infected.

“No individual is forced to agree to comply with this COVID-19 Code, and no individual will be sanctioned by the FIA for failing to do so; but any individual who does not agree to comply with this COVID-19 Code will not be granted access to and may not attend any Covered Event,” reads the FIA Code of Conduct.

Just got around to watching the F1 race. Decent race. Would have been nice to see how Max would have done. Stoked for this season.

You could see how gutted Max was as he climbed from he car and walked directly behind the screen.
Terrible shame.

Hamilton running Albon off the track when he was on a set of softs, ready to push Bottas for the rest of race, rustled me pretty badly. He got penalized for it, but it pretty much sealed the win for his teammate.

Also, Sergio Perez is my least favorite driver. He legit tried to take out Lando at the end there for no reason.

Not the first time. Lewis does what Lewis does when he is at a disadvantage.... Parked his car right in the middle of the road in the corner and force people to try to go around him. Every decent driver should be doing the same. I only watched a replay briefly, but I thought Lewis lost a bit of traction at the apex and straightened out for a second which caused the collision. I can't say for sure but that was my thought.

We can say that Albon should've waited but he had already been blocked off once before, Austria is a relatively short track and well I think he felt he was running out of laps if he kept on being held back. Possibly some youthful inexperience, but end of day, the racer, raced and you can't fault that... until he Kyvat's himself

He tried to pass and wound up spinning.

That pass wasn't there. But least Seb tried. I know it's early days so it hasn't sunk in yet, but the car is a bit of a POS at the moment and people aren't going to get out of the way just because it's red.

It's the same Seb spin that's been happening on the regular the last 2 years.
