2020 Motorsports thread.

Ferrari should write Red Bull a thank you card for taking the attention off them after that awful qualfying result for both Verstappen and Albon.

I wonder if it is a serious Honda power plant problem for Red Bull. Did Albon have a problem in Q2 that caused them to hold back Verstappen?

That was a decent quali. That gap is big. Mercs on mediums should play into their strategy. Although it could rain and they all start on inters. I’ll be on the golf course, unfortunately won’t be able to avoid updates.

You'll be on the golf course at 3 AM?

The 2 GTLM Porches collided leaving the pit under yellow at Sebring. It knocked the nose off the 912. It damaged a tire on the 911 which failed on the restart causing them to lose a lap and damage the bodywork on the right rear.

Kyle Bush thought he had his 99th win in the Infinity race today only to fail post race inspection for the car being too low.

Verstappen might have found a new way to lose a race as he crashed his car in the wet, bringing it around to the starting grid, damaging the front wing and the left front suspension. They are working frantically to replace parts on the starting grid.

Bottas moved before the start then stopped, losing several places as Verstappen moved into second place in his repaired car.

Hamilton with another masterful drive. He can get more out of a set of tires than anybody and was able to get enough of a lead to be able to put a new set on at the end to set fastest lap. Bottas said a light on his dash distracted him at the start. Verstappen owes the race to his crew that repaired his car on the grid. It took a lot of guts or stupidity to take that car hard into the first turn. Racing Point didn't take advantage of their starting positions, partly due to Bottas' delayed start.

I will have to watch when I get home. Shouldn’t Bottas have gotten a penalty for jumping start?

Another nice Sunday stroll for Hamilton. Brilliant driving. Lapping 5th place Ferrari. 40 seconds ahead at one point and pitted for the fastest lap with a 27 second lead. Ridiculous. Good drive for Max staying ahead of Bottas. The gap in performance is substantial, curious to see how that translates to other tracks. Hopefully there are some tracks that Max might have a chance.

They went through it frame by frame. Apparently he didn't cross the line before the lights went out.
Ok. Makes sense. But there is still a reaction time that they can’t be faster than, or it is considered anticipation. At least they used to have that rule. Oh well. Good to see max take second after his crash.

Watched the race. Lewis took a gamble going for fastest lap. That can back fire real quick. But in a short season, one point makes a difference. Two points actually, as he took fastest lap from Bottas. Also his 8th win at Hungary. Ties schumi at magnycours I believe. That’s insane.

Nice win by Austin Dylan at Texas against a hard charging Reddick and pursuers Logano and Kyle Busch.
Hamlin wrecking twice gummed up the late laps.

Alright. Put Hamilton in a Willams next week and lets see what happens.

Hamilton accused Mario Andretti of being ignorant after Andretti said Hamilton is creating a problem in F1 that doesn't exist.

The grand standing, neo politico Hamilton is in danger of tainting his legacy IMO with this continued nonsense.

Anyway provided this blows over and Coronavirus doesn't cancel all the races, should be an interesting season. Last year of the current technical regulations which means Red Bull and Ferrari should have caught up to Mercedes by now.
Are you sure that they will not close everything?
