In many ways Pete made better arguments for M4A than Bernie does before he sold out. He's a smart motherfucker. But Bernie is a rock.
Pete wrote a thesis on Bernie Sanders. It’s actually a good read but also tragic now that Pete has become the antithesis of what he once admired.

The election would already be in the bag if Bernie had Pete's mic skills.

Pete is such an anomaly. The quintessential Presidential personality...but he's gay. Imagine if he had a woman. He'd basically be white Obama. Game over. At least for the Dems. Trump is another mountain to climb, but imagine if he didn't have that baggage...

I don’t think this is issue of his sexuality but that he’s relatively still an unknown and ultimately a mayor. People are still drawn to the big names that the media has given a ton of mic time to.

On the contrary and polar opposite angle, the identitarian Slate piece last Spring was ridiculous on so many levels. Pete is normate gay at best, and not remotely too "straight acting". Dude doesn't even lift, although that would actually make him more gay if we consider the origins of modern fitness culture.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/the-in...acking-pete-buttigiegfor-not-being-gay-enough

After weeks of glowing press coverage of Pete Buttigieg as he’s shot up in the Democratic 2020 field, the “Pete’s Not Perfect” posse has kicked into high gear with an unusually personal criticism: Buttigieg, they say, isn’t gay enough.

“Is Pete Buttigieg just another white male candidate, or does his gayness count as diversity?” Slate asked in the headline (since changed) of a much discussed piece this week by staff writer Christina Cauterucci.

The first argument is that Buttigieg acts too straight to have any gay cred. Cauterucci claimed that since Buttigieg appears straight (he registers on my gaydar just fine) he must not have suffered the same discrimination that more obviously gay or transgender people (or people of color) face on a daily basis:

“A gay man who conforms to a critical mass of gendered expectations can move through life without his sexuality attending every interaction, even after he comes out. Buttigieg, for instance, would register on only the most finely tuned gaydar…. he might not be up against quite the same hurdles that a gay candidate without such sturdy ties to straight culture would be.”

Buttigieg’s critics also allege that being gay isn’t important to him. Ten days before same-sex marriage was legalized in 2015—in the middle of his re-election campaign for mayor—Buttigieg came out to his constituents in an essay in the South Bend Tribune.

Buttigieg has since married, and regularly mentions his husband Chasten in campaign speeches and interviews as part of a broader discussion of the importance of freedom for LGBT Americans. In a country in which same-sex marriage has been legal for less than four years, that is no small act. Especially for a small-town mayor in deep-red Indiana, where arch-nemesis Mike Pence once presided as governor.

Mayor Pete has touched a chord with many Democrats because he’s an amazing candidate with a compelling personal story. He’s a millennial war veteran (who served in Afghanistan under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy), speaks seven languages, is a Rhodes Scholar, and has an almost Mr. Rogers-like demeanor that’s as calming as it is captivating. Maybe he’s so popular because he’s just that good.

Like I said, he's an anomaly. He's just some guy who came out of nowhere, that started to surge because of his personality, but might have a ceiling because of his sexuality. It's hard to pin the guy down.

Personally, I think he's been the most impressive Dem in the primaries by quite a wide margin. I can understand the DNC's hesitation to really prop him up, though. That black/Latino vote is no joke for the Dems. I have no doubt that he would be a superstar, if it wasn't for his homosexuality. He's a fuckin' stud...but he has that one thing.

Pete sounds like a slack-jawed Obama wannabe

Bernie would be campaigning for his second term if he was in his 50s

Pete sounds like a slack-jawed Obama wannabe

How can you say that, coming off of Beto?

Beto is the slack-jawed Obama wannabe. Pete is the real deal Obama impersonator.

Lizzie dun goofed, Yang gang representin large, Mayo Pete is a fucking disaster, and our boy Big Dick Bern is droppin truth bombs to the sorry ass Times

Incredible awareness of American society. Everyone owes it to themselves and their children to listen up

You're gonna have to fill me in here. Is that a slam against the guy, or what?

Personally, he seemed to answer the questions expertly, as far as politics go.
Except for the fact he was working as a consultant on Canadian grocery store pricing as the criminal Canadian bread price fixing was taking place but he had "just learned about it last night"....

*gulp*

This is absolutely false. I have great respect for Obama’s political talent. Pete May be even better.

Then again, Obama’s performance vs the entire republican house? On healthcare was an impressive showing.

On topic, it seems Pete’s biggest problem is the left of the party.

Pete’s biggest problem is that he doesn’t actually believe in anything

He’s a political shapeshifter too cowardly to stick to positions and fight. Simply, he’s motivated solely by power.

He should switch to the Republican Party.

I do wonder if he intends to leave his role if he fails in the primary and if so, what seat does he try to take that could get him to a national stage?

His second term ended on New Years Day, he's no longer Mayor Pete. I'm pretty sure he's aware that he won't be getting the POTUS nomination, so the quickest route available would be to drop out and run against Eric Holcomb for Indiana's 2020 gubernatorial election before the February filing deadline.

The problem is that he isn't really a viable statewide candidate in a place like Indiana, where every both Senators and seven out of nine House Rep seats are red and Republicans also hold supermajorities in both chambers of the state legislature. Sometimes it's best to leave home behind.

mic skills.

OT but speaking of which @Sano, just gave this a spin for the first time in like five years. Holy Fucking FLAMES. The mic presence is nearly incomparable, most original and commanding MC ever IMO.

^ lmfao @ Lady Luck, waaaay out of her depth there.

What would be the next logical resume padding job he could seek?
