So on one hand you criticize me for being "pretty ugly". You do this all the while calling Hillary a "stupid bitch" and calling me "repugnant" and "deplorable". When are you going to soften up? When are you going to stop being ugly? Or is just ugly when I do it?
Lol, I definitely lay it on way too thick when it comes to Clinton. On top of calling her a stupid bitch I've called her repulsive and wished terrible things on her. Its just a small exercise in catharsis I use but fair point, I definitely go overboard on her. Don't hate the player, hate the game and all that.
As for you, its not so much the words themselves that bother me. People here call leftists cucks all the time. Its the WR ffs, its going to get ugly. My problem is with the attitude. In another thread you've said leftists are ruining America. That's not unlike what I see from the silly "das racis" Hillary supporters. Its a demonizing of the other as the integral problem of the country. I hate when either side does it because I believe that political polarization is the biggest threat to our democracy. But sure, perhaps I laid it on too thick on you too. I did suspect as much right after I posted so I probably should've sat on it more.
There is something you don't factor in probably because you didn't experience it. I made that thread not even 12hrs after coming off of an entire year of what felt like, and actually was, the entire world calling us deplorable, delusional, poor, uneducated, and losers. Most of the posters I put in the OP have all done these things. After a year of total and complete arrogance and insults...they can't take eat a bit of crow?
From the beginning I had a friend who was a Trump supporter so I was always sympathetic to them since I had a personal example of a guy I knew was a decent person supporting him. And I didn't care for this characterization of Trump supporters so I can understand your feelings atm.
And
@sodapopinski had a similar post in the election thread. I thought his was more tasteful so I threw him a "like", especially since I know he's been one of Trump's biggest cheerleaders here.
In regards to being "pretty ugly". Theres another thing you haven't experienced. And that is war room members calling you personally...racist, sexist, homophobic, dumb, retarded, an uncle tom, a fake person, a troll, and everything else. I've never complained or reported people...I've never even put a person on ignore. I just roll with it and respond in kind. Perhaps I'm too thick skinned and assume others can just roll with it as well. Perhaps I should consider others feelings more. Like if someone calls me repugnant and deplorable I should consider how they might feel if I call them a thin-skinned sissy la-la? Or maybe I can just not take it too personal, respect and accept it if that's how they really feel, and assume they'll do the same?
Yeah I've always said you get way too much shit. Off the top of my head I remember it going back to the 2012 election. Maybe those things that are said about you are true. But maybe they're true of me. How can you know I'm not a troll or a homophobe? You can't but we should strive to give others the benefit of the doubt and I don't think you get that enough.
In regards to "shaming". What if I believe that knowingly voting for a person who is guaranteed to sell out the country in a myriad of ways is a shameful act? Should I not call it such? If you feel like someone's posting is repugnant would you not call it such? Don't be a hypocrite Kafir. You have been harshly critical of me and have insulted my personal character multiple times now. Which is ok btw. Believe it or not I have always respected you as a poster so your opinion is one I consider even when it's critical as fuck. So don't sit over there and pretend you are above using nasty language, harsh criticisms, and heavy condemnation.
On shaming Clinton voters, I'm against it because I think we end up polarizing the nation more. If a Clinton supporter goes from an honest individual with reasonable differences to a shameful traitor and a Trump supporter goes from a person with reasonable grievances to a bottom of the barrel bigot then the election and the aftermath gets ugly.
Now the obvious counter point to that is that perhaps I haven't always done my part in these exchanges to deescalate. And it would be a fair point so I'll concede it in advance. To be clear, I'm not necessarily against really ripping into someone with harsh language but more so against a consistent maligning of political opponents as an irredeemable other. In short, I'd rather someone call me a fucking idiot but say we're still in this together then politely call me a political cancer that should expunged from the system.
That's what I see in your attitude, though I will concede that I believe the anti-Trump folks started it first. And I think they've been the more polarizing side so its very easy for me to believe your more polarized view point is a result of that. Nonetheless regardless of who started it it turns into a vicious cycle
Now that the election is over and I've taken a day to bask in victory I don't plan to hold grudges with Hillary voters. I said my piece and served up some crow. But now it's like I said we are all still Americans and are all in this together. There really are some scared and hurt people in this country who ate up all the fear mongering that Hillary and the media fed them. I hope Trump and others don't just dismiss that. We don't want different racial, sexual, and religious groups feeling like the country has rejected them by voting Trump. Those kind of wounds last generations and I'm actually pretty worried about that tbh.
Yeah I've run into some of those people. They're big babies and it'll be difficult to convince them. I think that just as there were right wingers who could never accept Obama there will be leftists who will throw a 4 year(fingers crossed) temper tantrum.
