Eh, Dana basically said that. I mean, he straight up said he thinks Fedor sucks, so yeah, he basically called him a bum. In this article he said he hoped Brett Rogers didn’t KO him because “Fedor isn’t that good.” He’s shit on Fedor for years.

He said that after a 3 fight losing streak and getting KO'd by Fedor. When he was undefeated he wasn't saying that.

He never needed to. Pride had a better Heavyweight division and Strikeforce had a comparable one if not better. With the exception of 2007 Fedor spent his best years in the best heavyweight divisions of the sport.

Perception is Pride had a better HW division. But when some of those guys matched up with UFC HW's it did NOT go so well.. CC got KO'd by an unknown Gonzaga.. Did you see that coming?

The UFC bascially pulled the ONE trick they are doing today by bringing in past their prime UFC guys like Eddie, have them lose and then you say, well I guess the UFC is overrated since they lose to our guys

Former UFC champs in other promotions also don't have amazing records. Bendo is 5-5 in Bellator, Eddie is losing in ONE, DJ got KOd by Adriano Moraes, etc

Between 2005 & 2007 PRIDE had Fedor, Big Nog, Cro Cop, Werdum, Kharitonov, Barnett, Hunt, Overeem, Herring, Alex Emelianenko- The UFC had Big Timmy, Arlovski, Gonzaga, Monson, Kongo & Couture. Pride had more depth. All those Pride guys that went to the UFC also had to adjust to fighting in a cage rather than a boxing ring. The rules were very different . 10 min first round, No elbows allowed on the ground/soccer stomps and knees to the head of a grounded opponent allowed, Fights scored as a whole rather than by rounds, Yellow cards with purse deduction for stalling, fighters halted and brought back to middle of ring if tangled in the ropes. Pride has been gone so long now that newer fans have no context to MMA that wasn't fought under the Unified Rules.

Regardless there are positives and negatives to both and at a certain point it comes down to preference. If I ever have enough money I'd love to travel the world and see if I liked somewhere else better, you don't have to be a condescending douchebag just because most people in America don't have the money to fly all around the world

As a historical aside, none of this is shocking since PRIDE was the equal to or better than the UFC, but the WEC LW division which should have been second rate ended up doing well in the UFC, with Pettis, Cowboy, and Henderson making great careers in the Octagon.

Good fighters are good fighters. I know Strikeforce also had some good crossovers like Gilbert Melendez, Overeem, and Bigfoot Silva.
