I can tell you first hand from someone I know, clean record prior, hard working guy, got into an altercation with a dude who ended up with a few broken ribs in a freak enough accident, dude was facing 1 - 2 years a record and the end of his life well, a significant blow, i believe though the guy would have recovered anyway.

So even though he was innocent, he was convicted based on BS testimony from a coward who lost a trial that only happened because the dude refused to pay his bribes. Judge spared him a custodial, dude went on to receive several promotions in a multi national company since and is now an executive in the company waiting for his "Assault Conviction"(same grade of charge as stabbing someone lol, the DEA refused to drop the level of the charge below the judge just banged a hammer anyway) to expire and be wiped as its his first offence.

Everyone deserves a chance. Any guy who has been with a hot chick knows what this guy was going up against considering she loves dick and is a porn star.
