International Turkey is Angry that the Massacre of 1,500,000 Armenians is Finally Being Recognized a "Genocide"

Did "the young Turks" have its own meaning before this group came around? I always wondered why that show names itself after that group but I'm assuming it wasn't that group?
 
I understand how things like this and the holocaust happen in an abstract, intellectual way. But, I really don't understand it. How can so many people take part in atrocities like this? It really sours my outlook on humanity even further when I dwell on issues like this. Fuck Turkey, btw.

It was 100 years ago but it still feels like fresh wounds. A very popular topic as of late. Much more than more recent massacres like Bosnia or Pol Pot. At least it feels that way.

Pretty sure it's based off Lucky Luciano and the like before they organized the mafia. They referred to themselves as "young turks" with the mantra of working as a collective, limiting power at the top and spreading wealth without conflict -- it was a stand against the old mafia leaders referred to as "mustache petes" who were seen as overly greedy and stifled the younger generation.

Ironically -- lucky use this as a ploy to obtain more power than the other leaders of the families, take bigger pieces of the pie and still used violence and power to achieve self "1%" status -- but the TYT and their socialist loving followers are not ones for the big picture and logic

So cenk either named his shtick over a genocidal regime (he did write an essay denying the Armenian genocide -- I think) or a bunch of corrupt murdering, tax avoiding, gangsters
 
It's so crazy that Chunk from TYT has still not formally retracted his views on this. He has had to address it once or twice but never just said "Yeah, I was wrong. I was young and didn't research well enough yada yada"
 
So today is both the Jewish holocaust remembrance day and the Armenian genocide remembrance day?
