GLORY 89: Hari vs Jürjendal

Badr Hari (106-16, 92 KO) will compete at GLORY 89 in Burgas Arena, Bulgaria, on October 7 (which marks GLORY’s first-ever Bulgarian event).
Originally set to compete at GLORY 88 in Paris earlier this month, Hari withdrew on compassionate grounds following the devastating earthquake which struck his home country of Morocco.

The kickboxing legend will now go head-to-head with Estonian powerhouse Uku Jürjendal (19-8, 15 KO) as the events headliner, with the winner qualifying for the GLORY 8-man Heavyweight Grand Prix this December.
However, the fight will be starting earlier in the evening, because of better visibility of Hari's fight in Morocco around that time and wishes of Bulgarian TV regarding the co-main event. Badr Hari is now expected to make the walk to the ring around 3pm ET / 12pm PT / 21:00 CEST.

Featherweight champion and one of the best P4P fighters on the planet, ‘Petch’ (168-39-3, 27), welcomes the challenge of top Spanish fighter David Mejia (61-15, 18 KO) at the end of the event.

Local hero Stoyan Koprivlenski (18-6, 6 KO) returns to compete in his hometown for the first time in almost eight years as he takes on a familiar foe in Romania’s Sorin Caliniuc (11-1) in the co-main event in what is a rematch of their 2021 fight.

In the featured fight, Levi Rigters (14-1, 6 KO) makes his long-awaited return against the giant Martin Terpstra (26-6, 13 KO). The winner will also qualify for the upcoming eight-man one-night $500,000 tournament.

The rest of the main card is stacked with top names and thrilling clashes. Luis Tavares (63-9, 21 KO) is finally back in action and welcomes the returning ‘Bucharest Bad Boy’ Bogdan Stoica (57-13, 40 KO), Bulgaria’s own Aleksandar Petrov (34-6, 17 KO) meets Austria’s Karim Mabrouk (36-5-2, 10 KO), and Morocco’s Mohamed Touchassie (14-0, 11 KO) makes his highly anticipated debut against Eduard Aleksanyan (18-4, 5 KO).

In the preliminaries, Eduard Gafencu (17-4, 11 KO) faces Teodor Hristov (14-3, 7 KO) in what should be an action-packed contest between two KO artists and number six ranked German Chris Wünn (35-5-1, 14 KO) takes on ‘Drago’ Dragomir Petrov (14-3, 7 KO) in the opening bout.

Well that’s a quick turnaround and big opportunity for a fighter who got stopped in the first round of a qualifier tournament.
Besides that, quite interesting matchup

Why dont they let Levi fight someone like Nikola Filipovic he atleast got a win. Terpstra should get an easyer fight instead of making a step up in competition.

In my opinion ofc.

Donovan Wisse and Michael Boapeah were set to fight in the main-event, but unfortunately Wisse pulled out due to illness and is no long to defend his middleweight-title

Luis Tavares is training at Mike’s Gym

Cool video

Interesting move, he doesn’t strike me as the “typical” Mike’s Gym fighter

@Nai Khanom Tom I asked GLORY’s matchmaker, and it’s because Badr Hari will now fight at a better time for Moroccan fans (they can all watch this event for free, because of what happened in Paris I guess), and because it’s better for Bulgarian TV (was their wish) to have a Bulgarian fighter in the main or co-main event.

Badr should get the W here, and it's cool that they're switching the order up for the Moroccans. Good stuff all around.
