Zookeeper Gabe's Animal Thread V6.0

I don't know but he ain't taken that shit lying down.

No shit, I laughed out loud when he threw the cucumber at the doctor. I watched it a second time and noticed the doctor didn't even flinch or laugh. Damn, she must be bored of her job even if she expects this reaction.

Real good video to start my Saturday morning. Thanks for sharing.

LOL she was probably told not to laugh because its might enrage the monkey, I don't know. When he saw those grapes he was like....

@Zookeeper Gabe, why are cicadas going to do this to us?? I dont want a crappy summer :(

I'm no expert but Cicada life cycle is extremely "sad", if we use human perspective on it.
They live underground for over 10 years, and only get to mate for a couple weeks before dying off. It's not hard to imagine why they are "screaming on top of their lungs" for a mate when they only have 0.5% of their lifespan to mate. Imagine if you only can have sex for 6 months for your entire life.

I never had any success breeding cichlids except for convicts which are like rabbits anyway. Still cool watching how active they are as parents.

What other types did you try?

Nice try, but fukk those little loud assholes.

Cicadas are harmless and actually facianating little buggers. It's something you have to deal with rarely. I love finding them and their sheds.

I don't mind cicadas. My 4 year old thinks that they are hilarious for some reason.

This one always creeped me out

A parasite that causes a mouse to lose its instinctive fear of cats, and actually makes them somewhat attracted to their scent.

The parasite can only reproduce in the cats gut so it wants the mouse to be eaten by the cat!

Lol. That's awesome, toxoplasmosis in people can be pretty serious. Especially for pregnant women.

"a male orangutan, clinging precariously to overhanging branches, flails the water with a pole, trying desperately to spear a passing fish…

The extraordinary image, a world exclusive, was taken in Borneo on the island of Kaja…

This individual had seen locals fishing with spears on the Gohong River.

Although the method required too much skill for him to master, he was later able to improvise by using the pole to catch fish already trapped in the locals’ fishing lines.”

Orangs are insanely smart. There's one in a zoo that watched her keeper cleaning the glass. So she stole a rag and cleans the glass daily now.

Highly recommend The Octopus and The Orangutan as a great read. Stories about animals and their crazy intelligence from zoos and aquariums.

I remember reading as a kid about how orangutans were notorious for figuring out how to escape their enclosures.

it has begun....soon the apes will take over...

i, for one, welcome our primate overlords

Nice try, "El Chimpo."

I'm on to you even if the others aren't. Now get your stinking paws off of civilization as we know it, you damn dirty ape!

Seriously, this world we live in is pretty nuts. The photo is like something you would see on the cover of an Edgar Rice Burroughs novel.

The fisherman Orangs is actually pretty old. I remember seeing it in a wildlife documentary years ago. While we are all impressed with the tool usage of great apes. I'm actually more impressed with Otters. The below video is also a couple of years old but is very impressive to say the least, can't find the actual documentary video where I learn about this.
