Zookeeper Gabe's Animal Thread V6.0

The white is part of the digestive system.

@jefferz yeah I've worked with multiple species. North Americans can be pretty tractable as long as they are hand raised. I work with a prehensile tailed porcupine a lot now. She's a sweetie. When photobucket stops being a dick I'll upload a picture.

Puffer caught in a net and it's mate waits until he gets free

Gene spliced axolotls. I'm guessing their using the same jellyfish gene as Glo Fish.

Any articles on it??? Cool if true, but it's probably just some crazy fish people in asia, dying them like Blood parrot fish. They dip them in chemicals to strip the slime coat, then put them into a tank full of dye. Most die in the process, and the living ones that are sold usually have issues.

I know about they dying. I actually take more offense to what type of fish those are. Parrot fish are a bastardized hybrid that always have severe health issues. They should never be sold to anyone.
I didn't see an article but I read it in a post about Tony Vargas's trip to China.

Glofish, not died

The Yasha shrimp goby has been captive bred! My favorite shrimp goby by far.

It's great seeing all these new species getting bred. When you look at Hawaii and other places starting to put collection restrictions, captive bred will be the only option very soon.

So Gabe, if you could domesticate 1 animal and have it as a pet, what would it be?

Wild fish populations are in so much trouble across the globe this is a great thing.

All ethics and everything else aside I would absolutely love a pet Clouded Leopard and a Japanese Giant Salamander.

Found this little fella in the basement.

Had a lovely greeting by the alpaca I helped save her life the other night. She was choking on grain and it took a bunch of uis two hours to save her.

Then she remembered she hated me. Ungrateful little shit

Is this video as bad as it sounds? Feel bad for those lil guys now I'm gonna punch my wife in the stomach for liking one of those vids on fb.

Yes. It's fucking awful and it really bothers me. Tell your wife to follow Little Fireface project on Fb. They study wild lorises and are heavily involved with getting the truth out about these videos. Then punch her

sad face.... on another note I didn't realize how easy it was to obtain a permit to own and sell venomous snakes. I had to get it for other reasons but dang. Maybe just Texas.

Yeah. It depends on what state you live in, but Texas is weird too because it depends on county. Te county I lived in a snake over 5' was illegal even if it was harmless. But one county over you could own pretty much whatever you wanted.

Just heard about this Hackenberger guy that owns a zoo where he "trains" animals by whipping them. There's video of him whipping a tiger.

Fucking disgusting that someone would do that, much less someone that owns/runs a zoo.
