Zookeeper Gabe's Animal Thread V6.0

I'm thinking of setting up a poison dart frog vivarium. Anyone have any experience with this? I've kept fish my whole life (both fresh and salt tanks) but I'm looking for something a little easier for my wife to maintain while I'm traveling, which is very often. I heard once you get a hang of them they're pretty simple.
Yeah I've done it a few different times at zoos. The best way to do it IMO is to get the tank, have it fully set up with plants doing well make sure your temps/humidity/lighting are on point before you even get the frogs. It depends on what species you are looking for as some are better beginners than others. Also when buying frogs try to start with larger animals as hey are very touchy when young. Make sure you have your fruit fly colony going and have a source for pinhead crickets or springtails. I like at least two different food items for them. Do a bunch of research first these guys have a lot of info. http://www.blackjungle.com

House centipedes scare the shit out of me.

What's up, Gabe. I usually give you the word when I've recently visited the Bronx Zoo...so the last time I went, I was at that area where they have the baboons and the hyraxes.

So there was this baby baboon that was seriously the highlight of that particular visit. This little guy would get a running start and then do like a series of back handspring/gymnastic flips. Then he'd stop for a moment and then he'd do it again. Hilarious and awesome to see.

They have the gelada baboons which are some seriously bizarre primates. Super scary teeth yet almost 100% vegetarians.

This bird is huuuuuge

Gabe, please put that nightmare in spoilers.

They are probably just fat and happy wild birds. They feed off fish (fishing industry leftovers) And carrion up there
Up where i am in AK, Eagles are as common as seagulls, or crows are down south. They are everywhere and really are not afraid of anything. I've been whacked in the head by a few eagle wings in the past. The do fight quite a bit with each other. They will lock talons together and hang on to each other and spin towards the ground, and let go at the last second.

@Anung Un Rama I'm unaware of what nightmare you're talking, please quote so I understand.

Bald eagles are usually doing the displays when they are getting ready to mate.

There isn't much that creeps me out, but they're on the list.

Had a total tank melt down on my coral tank. I lost everything. Fuck.

Oh fuck man. What happened? Power go out, heater blow or
Was it chemistry?

My clam spawned I think. The tank was full of white cloudy stringy stuff. All my parameters were fine but i'm guessing when the clam spawned all the other corals starting putting out there defense toxins, and it snow balled. I've had sps spawn before but it was nothing like this.
A coral banded shrimp survived for now, he's in a quarantine tank now with large amounts of iodine but he's acting strange so I'm doubting he's going to make it.
It's depressing, I had corals that were 10+ years old and some can't be replaced due to laws now. If I wanted to replace everything I'd be looking at probably $6k+.

Awful man. I know little about corals and I would have thought the filtration could pull that out. Really sorry man, just means you get to do something new and exciting. Can some of the coral have survived or is it bleached?
