yep,thats it.

He needs to get his water parameters under control. Everything I posted above is still relevant. His nitrites, nitrates, and ammonia are probably too high.
He should be doing more water changes, the solution to pollution is dilution.
If he's not using LED's, old light bulbs can add to hair algae growth but it won't be the main cause. Depending on the bulb, they all have different replacement times.

Evangers dog food had a recall because pentobarbital was found in some of their canned foods and one dog died. I'm curious how this happened. They are a great brand and that can of food literally only has one ingredient in it - "100% Whole Beef Cooked In Its Own Juices." And they used a USDA certified supplier. Scary stuff

How can a drug used to euthanize dogs and cats be found in dog food that uses only beef sourced from a USDA regulated facility?

Caracals are awesome, can be wicked jerks. But really cool animals and their vertical is amazing.

@Zookeeper Gabe what is your opinion of the more wild cats like caracals, servals, etc. as pets? I read so much differing opinions on them. I would love to get one at some point, but also dont want to have an animal that cannot thrive in the conditions I give it. I actually was just reading about a siberian lynx and i had no idea people owned these. furthermore, it sounds like they are pretty good domestically.

You can buy servals cross bred with the common cat to make them more tame, they're called Savannah's

yea, i read about those as well. i have also been to a house where someone owned a couple and they seemed pretty cool. i just would like to have something that will do well in the environment I can give it. i certainly dont want to be someone having an animal that would suffer in the surroundings no matter how hard i try. it seems like the savannah cat might be the best option or perhaps a genet.

I'd make sure you can get the scent glands removed from the genet or you're going to have a stinky couple of years.
