Zombie strength

Here is my ideal fortress:

A 100 ft tall concrete structure loaded with food and water, weapons and ammo on top. Maybe build a house on top of it to. You would of course have on of those ladders like you have in tree-houses that you just pull up whenever you don't need it. They can't claw through it, climb over it, or anything else...and you have the high ground for shooting them.

Let's get some discussion about this, guys. Flak with some history?

Like they say, you've got to know as much as possible about the enemy if you expect to successfully eradicate them.

That's a great idea, and --

wait...

Shit, I think the zombies got into S&P!

I would prefer a compound with a replenishable food supply as well as a deep well for water needs. This way you wouldn't have as great of a potential to run out of food or water.

I think a flame thrower would make a cool weapon from the compound, not that the flame would kill them, in fact it would most likely make things dramatically worse with flaming zombies running around trying to eat you. On the plus side it would probably look nice at night

Okay, let's go off your theory. They're using 100% activation at all times - does that mean, over time and use, they get weaker?

So using this assumption, the older the zombie, the weaker. They're dead, their tissue is necrotic, so it's probably not going to be repairing itself...right?

Do hormone levels play any part in zombie strength? Like if they talk to a woman will they experience an 8% increase in T levels. Also occasionally one runs across the "sexually insatiable-raping type zombies" are they weaker after having forced themselves on a perky 20something that looks suspiciously like the girl you saw in a porno?

I think they already do this. Isn't that basically rigor mortis? It would make them impossible to grapple with. So stiff.

man, if you want to talk reliability I would rather grab an AK than and AR15/M16/M4. The AR design is noterious for requiring constant maintenance. However if I had the chance to grab an AR15/M16/M4 that had been converted over to a gas piston setup I would totally be down for that weapon. I would shit bricks if I could get my hands on a Barret REC7 and a bunch of ammo for it I would shit bricks. Oh and if I was gonna be posted up somewhere and trying to snipe the zombie horde I would prefer a Barret M82 since I could simply aim for center mass for kills.

I agree in the AK. Great power as well. the thing is I am a realist (saying that in this thread is funny) and I think about things in real terms. As in what do I actually have access to? I do not have access to AK's. I Would get a SAW as well and pump major lead until the thing jammed up. But I would deal a lot of death while it was working. BTW those things are a lot lighter than you expect.

if they were using 100% activation at all times their muscles and tendons would literally rip from their bones rendering them pretty useless after a very short amount of time. I saw this on a "how did the survive" show on discovery. A guy was being dragged off a cliff by a huge rock, he threw it off at the last second with a surge of 100% muscle activation. His arms, shoulders and chest muscles were shredded from the extreme effort.

When I was a little kid, me and friends would pretend to be superheroes. Eventually someone would claim to have every single superpower in existence. Then the game wasn't fun anymore.

I have had one dawn of the dead dream. It was like a video game in real life. I was locked in the local sporting goods shop with a bunch of guns and unlimited ammo. It was probably the most fun dream I have ever had.

i have my zombie plan, but i dont have access to aa12s and whatnot. i would head to big 5 and load up on shotguns and ammo. i would make my base there, because where i live its right next to two grocery stores and a target. theres also a roof with only one way up.

That's a pretty good HQ.

I'm in Canada, and all the guns I have access too are back home, but I do have a few buddies who have access so I guess my first priority would be to get to them.

Which is teh suck, cause you really don't want to be unprepared for this type of thing.

In the event of zombies, firesale, meteor, or general Armageddon, my only plan is to get back home to New Hampshire, where I'm pretty they're just praying for civilization to end. The number of generators, guns, and large trucks per capita is astounding.

True. it's like the Deep South of the Northeast....

I had one where I went to Walmart to load up on ammo and food, but I got bit right before getting out of there.

That was probably the most realistic scenario...right before I woke up I was going over my options and decided upon a bullet to the head. Bummer!

I think my fantasy plan of the moment would involve putting on my cowboy boots, hat, and walking around with my Nagant1895 talking about how I love the thrill of reloading, occasionally meowing as I spin my revolver around.

I haven't had any zombie dreams, but I've had a few apocalyptic/beasts running rampant over the world dreams. Usually the creature of interest is something like a velociraptor mixed with the ant lions from half life. And they're jet black. They're absolutely terrifying, yet, somehow I always seem to stay a step ahead of them. And I usually manage to find a convenient detonator which has every demonraptor nest wired to C4. I hit the button in the nick of time and boom. Dream over.

Ok, right. So maybe not 100% CNS activation, but certainly something way higher than most people use at any given time. Additionally, they don't seem to feel pain - like, at all - so they could continue to push through muscle strain/joint sprain.

I suppose this means they would break down faster than a normal human would, but what about this: do they oxidize? Do they even HAVE a ****bolism? I've read some zombie books where they don't breath, the can walk under the water on the sea/lake floor. If that's the case, then I don't see why they would break down unless they were attacking something and causing their own structural damage bc of impact/muscle tearing. As in, their tissues don't seem to decay "naturally."
