Zombie apocalypse, what you choosing

If its a true zombie apocalypse then the gun is largely useless.

I mean, it is good for as long as you have bullets, which might be the first few minutes of the first real zombie contact, but you should totally expect to be out of bullets relatively soon, with the bulk of your zombie fighting thereafter done only with one weapon.

For me I'd use the Glock for fighting humans and only in emergency vs zombies. Primary zombie weapon would be spear..
And as others have said, with gun you'd need a headshot. Most peopel aren't anywhere near good enough to headshot a zombie that is moving even as close as 7 yards.

I lot of people saying axe or bat but that would be more tiring IMO. And with a bat, you'd need some room to swing it. Spear just a quick thrust into the head would do the trick as I assume their bones are kind of brittle after being undead for so long

Glock and long sword.

prior to my tragic boating accident i had a lot of 9mm ammo (that seems to be a 9mm model as far as I can tell, but couldn't zoom or see well enough to get an exact model number.)

Also i might happen to still have a 9mm laser bullet for dry fire training.

The longsword has those braces at the bottom that would defend against a sword, bat, or pipe sliding down the blade after you block and potentially injuring or severing your wrist.

Crossbow - guns are too noisy - and a longsword

Glock and katana.

Katana for the zombies

Glock for the other humans and to take their weapons/transportation/supplies.

Gun with lots of ammo or I'd rather have metal bat over wood bat or samurai sword. I'd probably hit myself with mace on chain.

The katana will chip very quickly. The longsword will have a little more durability but will also chip.
If those are bought from Amazon or Mall-stores and are just cheap steel, you may be correct but it should be noted they're going through dead zombie flesh. Namely the limbs and the neck.

But if they're made of quality industrial steels, like...
  • Tool steel: T10, L6-Bainite, and S7 Shock-Resistant Steel, which feature high carbon content and tungsten.
  • Carbon steel: Blades are mostly made from 1045, 1060, and 1095 carbon steel.
  • L6 Bainite: Known for exceptional toughness and durability.
  • T10 Tool Steel: Offers high hardness, toughness, and edge retention.
  • 1095 Steel: Standard choice with the highest carbon content and sharpest edge.
...they're not going to easily chip, especially against dead flesh. They'll go through zombie limbs and necks like hot butter, possibly with the exception with the neck.

Between the katana and longsword, it depends if you're counting on going on the defensive or offensive and how long the attack would be against how many zombies. Endurance is a factor most people don't factor in when picking a hand-held weapon, and weight can become a major liability in prolonged engagements.

So pick whichever one is lighter and you can swing easier, because in a zombie apocalypse you're going to do alot of swinging.

Gun may/would end ammos at some point, plus could break in some way

Baseball bat not bad but better options, spicky wire add little damage but great handicap if you have to grab it by there

Flail far too complex to use, needs time to swing to develop momentum

Euro sword is solid, light and versatile, great damage with no much effort. Would have preferred one-hand version though

Glove is retarded pick

Katana is not as good pick as euro sword... less sturdy, only one edge, less good thrust

Crossbow may/would end ammos at some point, plus could break in some way, long recharge

Spear give great range and in desperate case can work even closer, great defensive pick and relatively easy to learn use

Axe in the picture is not a real axe, will get you either tired or injuried

Main spear, sword as secondary option

What about slingshot? Ranged weapon and almost anything can be ammo.

all these people selecting that fantasy abomination of an axe? somewhere in an alternative universe a Middle Ages Roger Mayweather sighs and reminds himself that most people don't know shit about fighting with edged weapons

Crossbow (silent, reusable ammo)
Spear (better range)

Still at :

Machete : due to weight and effectiveness it is better than most swords as tight quarter melee weapon and it has practical applications for food and shelter.

And couple that with a range weapon, the Bow and Arrows
IMO the gun s...

Which you can continually get more ammo for, as long as you have access to branches.

Are we talking slow zombies or fast zombies?

Probably the spear if slow zombies.

You can repeatedly poke the fuckers in the eye to the brain from a safer distance

Then probably the longsword or katana.

Axe and Morningstar would take a lot more energy if surrounded, and you have to close that distance
