80s/Electronica Your Top 1 80's song

I remember this video used to freak me the hell out as a kid

Man, they sure could write a song.

I sort of met the guitar player, Gary Richrath, back in the late 90's. I was working at a record store and he came in with his girlfriend. He headed straight to the back of the shop where we kept the vinyl. His girlfriend came up to the counter and asked me if I knew who that was. I looked back there and told her no. I didn't recognize him. She said, thats Gary. Gary Richrath! I said, REO Speedwagon? and she smiled. He brought up a handful of old REO albums and I told him just to take them, on the house and shook his hand.

About 5 years later, a friend of mine was playing bass in a cover band. The guitarist just happened to be Gary's son. One night, Gary showed up to the bar they were playing and asked to sit in for a couple of songs. His son said no! Told him to get lost. After the gig I asked my friend what that was all about. He said Gary's son was still bitter about him always being on the road while he was growing up. Entitled little prick, lol. He really was. He literally asked my friend to tell me I wasn't welcome at his shows because I didn't "fit in" lol.

So if you're tired of the same old story,
Oh, turn some pages

(Ok. So this came out in '78 but I love this song, and in particular, Gary's guitar work)

That's awesome, got to love random stuff like that happening. Too bad about his son though, doesn't sound like a lot of fun.

They definitely made some great songs.

That song was written about Holly Beth Vincent, the Holly in Holly and the Italians who had a couple minor hits in the 80's

In fact, I did not know that, nor have I ran across that band before. Curious, how did you acquire such information? Sounds like very late 70's/early 80's valley girl.

made in '77 but I'll include it in the 80s

best decade for music IMO.
ok 90s was good too.

I read this story in Casey Kasem's voice.

And now its time for our Long Distance Dedication. It comes from a Sherdogger whose been in the music industry spanning over 2 decades.
He writes (your post).

Please play Roll With The Changes by REO Speedwagon for me Casey and dedicate it to Gary Richrath's shitty son.
Signed,
Jackonfire.
