You think Mir can Beat Overeem?

Well, that's also what was supposed to happen in the last two Overeem fights.

Honestly, I think it's a toss up.

This fight is the definition of a toss up. They can both hit hard, have no chins and fold under pressure. Betting on this fight would be a big mistake

no.

Mir has been shown to be fairly vulnerable and easy to control in the clinch, and Overeem is a terrifying clinch fighter. Of course, Mir has every chance of latching on to something if it gets to the ground, but he pretty much only seems to get there when people take him down.

Thing about Mir is he can always snatch a limb. Overeem isn't the smartest fighter once he's gassed (ie, putting his hands down, letting himself get pushed to the cage by hard hitters, etc) and while he could still hurt Frank it could end up on the mat where Frank could very well submit him.

Though at this point Frank's chin isn't the greatest so if Overeem fights smart he could easily take it (and I'm a huge Frank Mir fan, words very rarely spoken here on Sherdog). He needs to be measured with his strikes, not gas himself out, and not go to the ground unless the finish is absolutely certain. Playing with Mir on the ground when a finish isn't guaranteed is a recipe for disaster. If Overeem can do that, this is really his fight to lose.

If the Reem's cardio is shored up and he fights smart I think he wins. If not, who knows. I could see the Reem winning very easily - like one huge knee in the gut and Mir crumbles into a heap. But, like all Overeem fights, the longer it goes - the more he starts to look beatable as he huffs and puffs his way across the octagon.

Mir will handle overseem easily. Mir is way too durable. Reem can't finish him. He survived crockpot and tank Abbott. I had him winning the fight with JDS until the KO punch

Obvious trolling is obvious.

Mir wasn't even competitive in the JDS fight.

Mirs been finished very easily, alot, he's no more durable than Overeem and Reem hits harder, faster and more technically.

Of course he can.

Will he though? That is a different question. But anything can happen in mma. Will those unique things happen though, that's always different.

This is how the fight gos down.

KO of the night for both of them

Honestly after the Bigfoot and Browne fights I won't count out Mir this time lol. Overeem SHOULD beat Mir KO/TKO Round 1. The worst part about Overeem's losses is that he was dominating Bigfoot the first two rounds and was killing Browne until he front kicked him. Any other referee would've stopped it. Yamasaki fucking sucks. That is all :)

Mir has very very little chance. His cardio is bad like Reems and he doesn't like to get hit... and he doesn't have the balls to strike with Reem.

Whoever hits the other guy first wins this fight.

Not at all.

Both Mir & Overeem have better chins than fans give them credit for. Mir took tons of shots from Carwin before finally going out, same in his fight against Junior. Junior also said he was surprised at how much it took for him to finally finish Mir off and that he has a better chin than he expected.

With Overeem, it seems he actually does well throughout the early goings of the fight when a shot connects on him. The only time Overeem reacts badly to being hit is when he's very tired.

Almost every time Alistair has been knocked out was when he was gassed. I'm sure you know that being very tired in a fight makes you far more susceptible to being finished by knock out, Alistair has taken some very heavy shots in his career and has actually come back to win.

I bet that kick would have spelled the end of many other fighters. Overeem took it cleanly, went down and immediately popped back up and he actually went on to win the fight by TKO.

If Overeem was very tired when he took that kick, I bet that he would have been finished from a follow up barrage.

I'm not saying either Mir or Reem have great chins, but they're better than people think they are. The biggest issues for Mir is he does a poor job at defending himself after being cracked good and then he often takes more shots until he's put out, just like in the Carwin fight that I already mentioned, and he took some serious shots from JDS in the 1st round and wasn't finished.

With Overeem, his cardio fails him and it seems when he can't get a finish of his own, his heart sinks to the floor. When he's tired, he does a poor job at defending himself and takes many clean shots and eventually gets the lights shut off.

They both do have issues when a fighter pressures them, but they have taken some very serious shots and either shrugged them off well or recovered and came back to win.

If anybody's getting finished in this fight between Mir/Overeem from strikes, it's Mir. He just got finished by Barnett from a knee (early stoppage IMO), just imagine what Overeem is going to do to him.. ouch.

Will cheer for Mir though.

I sure hope so. But I think, unfortunately, that Overeem finishes this fight in the first round. I also think that's what the matchmakers intend to happen. They have shelled out big bucks for Reem and they want him back in contender status. I don't think a win over Mir "legitimately" puts him back into contender status, but as we all know, the powers that be in the UFC rank who they want where they want when they want.

He can always land a big punch like he did to Kongo. I just don't see it happening though.
