Truth is guys like Belal and JDM should never have been champions, they just squeaked by into it from lucky events like Khamzat having health issues leading to no longer being able to make weight, Shavkat having a long injury layoff and missing out on the title and Gary just losing to Shav which set him back.

Guys like Edwards, Brady, Belal, JDM are ok contenders but were never going to hold onto the belt for long.

JDM beat Belal who was the Champ at the time. You can’t discredit any of these guys winning the belt and being the Champion. Belal spanked Leon who KO d Kamaru and beat Usman twice.

Khabib beat a real estate agent Al Aquinta who wasn’t even the Champ for the belt.

Does that mean Khabib was also lucky to have had the belt. Khabib only fought Khabib only fought 3 times after this then quickly retired.

JDM was a worthy Champion and could quite easily be the Champ again.

jDM could quite easily have held the belt for a long time if he picked his opponents carefully and fought once every 10 mo the like Islam has been doing.

That's what I'm thinking too Shavkat has the best shot but Garry was able to do pretty well in neutralizing him.

If Islam really has 1-2 more fights left, I'd have Khamzat be one of them and a #1 contender at WW.
Have a WW tournament with the top 6 with the winner taking on Islam

It is no way a for sure thing Islam clears out 170. He's got alot of legitimate competition ahead of him. Guys like Shavkat, Belal, & Usman can match his grappling & wrestling too. WW is definitely a far more dangerous for Islam than '55 was.
