I dont feel bad for Romero im a huge fan but he missed weight, i feel bad for Robert who doesnt get to defend his Title, and i dont even know if he will get PPV points.
At the same time fans are making a big deal about it. 0.2 is nothing and to pretend that there is any advantage is stupid, i feel like if it was another fighter the outrage wouldnt be this big.
I’ll do you one better. If this was Yoel’s first time missing weight, for a title fight, there would be hardly any outrage at all.
Still wouldn’t be for the title, because you know... rules.
But it would be fine.
Yoel gets shit for stool gate, but barely anyone mentions that Kennedy held on to his gloves and thats how he rocked him, seems kinda like a double standard.
It is literally constantly brought up that Tim held the glove. That’s why “stoolgate” didn’t actually go anywhere. That was a pretty scummy fight, and everyone pretty much agrees that both guys were in the wrong.
Though, Romero fans still insist there wasn’t anything nefarious going on. Soo.
Some people said bad things about Till missing by 3 or 4 pounds but there wasnt this huge of a outrage. Romero is older and he probably couldnt lose more, who really thinks he didnt want to make weight.
Dern was destroyed for missing weight.
Till was lightly roasted, probably because he hadn’t done anything too egregious before that (this was his second missed weight though, wasn’t it?)
People are just, in general, tired of fighters appearing as if they don’t care about their weight.
If Romero can’t make the weight, multiple times, he shouldn’t be trying to fight for the title. That’s enough to anger some fans, knowing your body can’t do it (based on the previous failed cut) but going through with it anyways.
I do believe that he cut the amount of weight that he wanted to. I think he just expected another pass.
Having said that, Yoel should move up, win or lose, if he had trouble this time, next time is only get worse, he should move up for his own safety.
I agree.
