Television Yellowjackets - TV show

Showtime on Demand.

Never heard of it.

I have other shows queued up for binging and it doesn't seem like a premise I'd be interested in unless there are some pretty good plot twists.

I watched the 1st 2 eps on demand and seems like some crazy shit to be revealed.

Even the Lost producers weren’t clear on what the plot was.

That's complicated.

The showrunners knew exactly what they wanted to do, but when they told the suits they wanted exactly three seasons, they were laughed out of the office.

The very second the show was a hit the plan was to run it for as long as it could go, story be damned. Once it's running and a lot of people are watching you can throw any chance of a cohesive story out the window, all that matters is holding onto the ratings.

Thanks for that. Seems like quite a few shows suffer from this illness. I understand where the suits are coming from, not wanting to kill the golden goose, but it sucks to see shows with solid first 2 or 3 seasons go downhill rather than conclude the way they’re meant to.

For what it's worth, I abandoned Lost early but was talked back into watching the whole thing.

If you accept the main story arc is irrelevant, you can really enjoy the epic ride. I did. Some of my favorite television moments are from this show.

If you have any intention of ever watching, don't look at this spoiler.

After the first clip Ben composes himself and vanishes through a secret door. He returns moments later for the second clip.

This show is best when watched twice since they tell the story in flashbacks as kids, as crazy
cult cannibals,
as adults where you can only guess which kids died and were
eaten
since they don't have adult scenes so far.

Anyone in? Watching the second episode and it's flippin great.
YELLOWJACKETS
Wildly talented high school girls' soccer players descend into savage clans after their plane crashes in the remote northern wilderness. Twenty-five years later, they discover that what began in the wild is far from over.
I've watched the first four episodes and waiting for the 5th which comes out on the 12th. Pretty solid show although it hasn't reached greatness and not sure if it ever will. The 90s nostalgia is pretty cool speaking as someone who was high school aged in 1996 when the plane crash happened.

One thing that bothers me is they filmed it in British Columbia and it has that unmistakable Pacific Northwest/Pacific Southwest (depending on whether you're American or Canadian) look in the wilderness scenes. But they're claiming they're in Ontario, which it looks nothing like. The premise is that the team was flying from New Jersey to Seattle for a national tournament. Why not just say that the plane crashed in BC instead of Ontario since that would be plausible? I realize the average person probably doesn't even notice, and I can suspend my disbelief, but I do notice stuff like that and thought it was worth mentioning.

PS - It's also kind of weird how they added a theme song and title credits to the third episode and apparently are keeping it. They should have done it to begin with or just not done it, IMO.

It's on Showtime. Personally, I watch it on Amazon because I have a Showtime subscription through Amazon. I believe the pilot episode is available for free even if you don't have a subscription.

The chubby stay at home mom seems like the most attractive girl on the show. Juliet's face looks really old with a ton of wear and tear.

They make it seem like Ricci's behind everything, but that's gotta be a misdirection.

No such thing as a “wildly talented girls soccer team.”
This is true.

The elite best of the best Women's Olympic soccer teams routinely lose to teams of boys teenage high school freshmen. but that's true of almost all sports.

Just wait. Hormone suppressed dudes are breaking barriers down.

Or better yet just say it crashed in Canada.

Washington/British Colombia has such a distinctive look in the forests that it makes more sense to have it be there. But sure, generic wilderness of Canada is somewhat better than Ontario, I guess.

like it so far.
all these suburban moms are a bunch of cannibals

Not at all what I was expecting, thought it was gonna be a girl power show. It's actually really good, one of the better shows on TV atm...

Just found this show and think it's great (on episode 3 so far).

I don't normally watch a whole lot of television, but I have some time off for the holidays, and was looking for some good horror movies/television. I'm not sure what genre Yellowjackets falls under, but it grisly and dark. My only disappointment is that Melanie Lynskey is starting to age - I have always thought she was strangely beautiful, but I almost didn't recognize her in this show... still gorgeous though.
