I know I make a decent amount, enough to probably be considered on the lower end of middle class. That said, I find it hilarious that about a month ago we had a staff meeting that boiled down to stay the course working from home, we'll send out a work form home policy, we know you guys aren't paid enough for what you do considering the cost of living in Utah and we will address it.

Haven't heard SHIT about pay in a week and the rumblings you get from people that have been at the office over 5-6 years.... if admin doesn't do something they may have a soft mutiny on their hands from lawyers, support staff, and well, everyone in general.

Compared to fast food workers we probably shouldn't complain but the subject matter we get to read/see... it'd be nice to get paid more to carry that mental weight around every day.

Nah, everyone gets to complain and do whatever necessary to increase their wages to something closer to their labor value.

The annoying thing is I think my office even though we are county employees, make at or slightly above market average for our jobs even when you include the super high wage white collar/coporate law stuff.

Case in point, the only job I have really found that makes a decent chunk more than I do that I would qualify for was that job I applied for end of March to be a senior corporate paralegal for a national media company that has an office in SLC. And that would jump me from 46k a year to almost 60k but to find something that makes in between those amounts is hard.

We also don't have as much power as people in the private sector do. Our wages are tied to taxes and it's always a hard sell to the public to increase taxes in order to pay people like us and the cops in this area more. And they wonder why places like West Valley PD can't keep the good detectives and officers and those guys leave to work state jobs.

I'd say outside of a few confused people, most gab posters are comfortable with white supremacy. Parler was funny to see, that leak is how they got A BUNCH of the capital riot folks.

I'd say overall Gab is worse than Parler from what I've monitored. On par with Stormfront at least.

@Mr Holmes seems like a good dude. In my memory he has always been good to have conversations with. I dont know how he identifies himself politically, but he seems to get clumped in with the right. He seems to try and be honest about his views, so hats off to him for that.

He also vetoed an anti-apartheid bill, luckily it didn’t stick but his reasons were purely for commercial interests. Him arming religious radicals around the world is the reason the ME is so unstable and engaged in constant conflict. He was another Nixon with less redeeming qualities.

For the most part they're harmless. There are some cooky CTs that come from the left too and I'm pretty sure Hillary supporters pushed the Obama birther CT at one point.

Some rents I have seen when searching both here in Utah and in Washington.

$1300 a month for a 300 sq foot place in DT Seattle
$900 a month for 425 sq foot studio DT SLC
Lot's of new home construction starts at 600k for the house on something the size of a large city lot

FFS, I can't believe a 300 sq ft apartment is even a thing. So much for splitting rent with a roommate, unless someone enjoys sleeping in the bath tub.

@essie It's also why I don't drink (anymore). I didn't drink until I was 21-ish and then I stopped for a couple of years, then drank again last year due to extreme boredom and admittedly depression.

My grandmother was Polish, and she had brothers and sisters. Apart from one of her sisters, they all drank themselves to death. They were really bad alcoholics.

When I was at school there were two girls whose parents would openly smoke weed in front of them and us (and conveniently kept it stashed in a jar in the pantry).
They were probably the only kids that never smoked. Rebelled against their parents by NOT smoking weed.
Likewise a couple of kids whose parents teetered on alcoholism (or fell in) became teetotallers.
Now that my generation's kids are mostly just hitting late teens and early adulthood, I imagine a lot of them might be very conservative towards drugs and alcohol for similar reasons.
Still hard for me to fathom not drinking as a kid, unless you have liver polyps that'll explode on contact or something.
