There are some folks that are enemies, like @fingercuffs mentions as her bff, i would love to punch a whole in the face of fauci. Because of his lies, i was restricted of seeing family members, tampering with freedom to a high degree needs to be dealt with.

Biden crushing the value of your money fast more than taxes can, it’s essentially theft, but the guy also harms himself and his friends family while doing that, i have to give a pass on stupidity

The further you get in life, the better you should learn to build bridges, hate and grudges do the opposite. Save that hate for the irs or your insurance companies, they deserve it more.

I enjoy honest, sometimes uncomfortable but respectful debate. My best friend in my junior enlisted years was my opposite culturally and politically in everything, but we spoke honestly to each other and learned from it and maybe even got smarter and improved the world on the smallest scale. I try not to think of it that way. I live in the Midwest where there are a lot of good conservative people. My gf’s family are all conservative, and they’re wonderful, hardworking, honest people. They are just so in the Fox/Newsmax/evangelical bubble that I’m not sure that they really grasp how extreme their politics are.

So I try to differentiate between an average conservative person, and the Republican Party.
The Republican Party is my enemy; the NRA is my enemy; evangelical fuckin weirdos like Dennis Prager are my enemy. I suppose if a right winger was super die hard for all those things, they’d become my enemy, but the average conservative voter is not.

I think people like this guy who are just so routinely nasty to anyone who disagrees with them are not "enemies," but they are obstacles to good functioning in society. Decent, responsible people have to pull extra weight because of them.

And Prager is aligned with the Evangelical movement, which is more political than religious.

As a liberal, I think irrationality and ignorance are the main meta problems in society. Some people (energy companies, people who want regressive tax cuts, Evangelical leaders, Breitbart types, etc.) deliberately spread them for profit, and society will be better off if we can overcome their influence.

It's only been Republicans I've read calling for his head, they forget what he did for AIDS. Husband and I even got into an argument because he figured although I didn't say it I was thinking it was a shame that the shooter missed. But that would have been horrible for his young son about to go college, and Tiffany seems reasonably nice so I didn't think that. What I did say after it had sunk in a bit was that's basically walked him back into The Whitehouse on a gold platter.

Prager's one of those people who makes a living off promoting false factual beliefs and irrationality. My general take is that as long as we have the incentive structure that we have in place, people will do that, and the challenge is to adjust incentives to prevent their actions, though moral condemnation is part of the incentive structure.

It's been a few weeks since the Trump assassination attempt and I still see online comments on social media of how they're either mad at the shooter for missing Trump's head or just plain angry that Trump didn't die that day. I've read COUNTLESS comments. You can be scrolling all day and not read them all.

Now, I assume that if that if that was Biden, that conservatives would be also saying the same.

These are no longer just words or random statements. A lot of the comments I've read could be informed to the FBI, but there are way too many that it's overwhelming, that it is a fraction of the entirety of the country who feel this way. And these are the people who are WILLING to post it online, it doesn't count the number of people who are thinking it in their heads.

I think this country is way past the point of just talking shit to each other online. People are actually WISHING death on people who don't share their opinions. So, what is next after that? What is the next step up the ladder of wishing death on half of the country?

It doesn't matter who wins in November. The hatred and anger of the people who will lose this November will only continue to grow.

Donald Trump and the MAGA movement is absolutely an enemy of the Constitution and our democratic way of life. Hopefully Trump loses badly in November and we can put this Frankenstein's monster to rest once and for all. If the GOP can moderate after that the country would be far better off.

After all I do think the GOP has its strengths relative to the Democrats. For example, at the state and local level we see that red states have fewer regulations on construction and thus build more housing which is by far the most important factor in addressing the housing crisis. Meanwhile blue states like Cali are preventing the building of new housing to preserve useless shit like Harvey Milk's camera store.

But all that needs to be set aside for the moment because Trump and his cronies present a grave threat to our Republic and need to be thoroughly defeated and discredited.

"Mass immigration" isn't a defined term, and it isn't something Americans usually say. I think you'll find if you enter discussions about immigration policy in good faith and make serious arguments, you won't get a response like that. If you demonize immigrants, people will react differently.
