Would you buy a used couch?

I would feel a lot more comfortable buying a leather/fake leather couch that you can just wipe down with a clorox wipe or something as opposed to a cloth couch that would absorb any spills or stains.

All I know is I would not want to buy my couch from me. I know what I have done on there.

My last couch i bought of CL, it was like new, leather. The ladys house was very clean and had the receipt. It was less than a year old. I wiped it down with a solution for peace of mind. All good.

Bought a great micro fiber sectional off Craigslist. Easily a $2k dollar couch and we got it for $125. In perfect condition, but rich people upgraded.

Nope, I would go to Ikea if the budget was tight....

Fiance- Nothing, but problems. That's women for you. Ultimately I guess my daughter came from Craigslist too in a round about sort of way.

You met a woman on CL? Has the full story been told on Sherdog before?

I'd avoid used furniture from someone you don't know, or even from people you don't know. The money you'll save by buying used won't make up the price if you have to have an exterminator come in to get rid of bed bugs. If you watch the sales you can get a cheap couch for $350 from the furniture stores and some will even deliver it for free. A lot of places will sell you last years model at quite a discount. If you can find one that has a tear on the back or bottom it's a double score. Don't be afraid to ask if they have any scratch and dent items.
I just bought a 5 piece leather sectional for $650, it was a 2 year old model and had a small tear on the back.

What if it was this couch?

Looks like a wonderful couch to me

My couch got picked up off the side of the road. Some carpet cleaner, and it looks brand new.

Why buy used when you can get for free?

when you go check out the couch make sure you're on loads of acid & peaking.

when I was a kid we were tripping balls on gel tabs & I remember seeing old stains on my washed jeans that weren't visible to the naked eye when sober

Fecal remnants, urine residue, cigarette stench and various bodily fluid makes me say no but obviously you can just clean the couch for the aforementioned things but my biggest fear is the possibility of bed bugs.

no, i would go to a college on the last day of finals and find a couch for free on the curb by the dorms

Dorms? You must not know about the awesome finds outside of frat houses. Come on, they're already out on the front lawn and most frat houses are full of drunks so they won't even notice it missing. Couple of Clorox wipes and you're good to go, so what if it has a couple of stains, they add character. They're available year round, unlike the silly dorm idea, and when you're ready for a new one, load up the old one and dump it another frat house lawn (again back to the frat boys being drunk and not noticing) and pick up another one in only 1 trip!

Posting from a used couch I bought about 3 years ago. Fake leather and used the clorox wipes to thoroughly clean it.

totally. For a rental situation, why the hell not? refinish it, or get a blanket to throw on top.
