Would MMA look bad if artem got stopped?

And that might matter if this was say, Paulie Malinaggi vs Michael Johnson or something. An MMA fighter with some legitimate punching ability, speed, power, wrestling ability for tie ups etc. That kind of guy, or someone on that level I might be able to see overcoming the skill gap with their youth and the changes in rules

But it's Artem lol He's tough but he's a punching bag with T-Rex arms

Paulie could always break his hands though, he is a brittle old man. That's what I'm hoping for anyways. Artem is a goof but I don't get the sense he's too bad a guy and Paulie is annoying as hell.
It matters no matter what because it takes Paulie out of his element into a world that is nothing like the one he spent his life competing in and he's doing this at an advanced age a few years into retirement.

Don't get me wrong, I've still got Paulie winning but this shouldn't really affect how anyone perceives the sports they come from based on the outcome because compared to either one it is an entirely different world.

I don't think any rational person with even a semblance of MMA knowledge would ever think Artem embarrassed himself. Artem made the most of his limited ability, always showed up ready to fight and was humble in victory and defeat. He's got nothing to be embarrassed about.
Says a dude with Mac in his name.... right, sounds like SBG propaganda. He is humble? Calling a Khabib a chicken when you are lucky to be in UFC is humble? I think you need to grab a dictionary and look at the meaning of the word.

So I've because my surname begins with Mac I have a bias towards Artem Lobov? That is some twisted logic right there. It's sad how hatred can warp a person's viewpoint. Anyway, I stand by my point, Artem never embarrassed himself. He took every fight he was offered, never pulled out, never missed weight and came to fight every time, even when he was obviously outclassed.

It’s a fun freakshow circus fight for those who are into this kind of thing, but it has nothing to do with the actual sport of boxing or sport of MMA.

its gonna be like Neo fighting the agents in the first matrix movie.

Paulie will see everything coming in slow motion and every punch he lands is gonna do some damage. Only way paulie loses is if he breaks his hands on artem's dome.

He was in the TUF finale, you're selling him a little short imo.
He lost the fight to get into the house. He was only even there because of Conor and then brought back because of him lol

No-one cares enough about this fight for it to have any impact.

Paulie has never ever been known for having punching power and on top of that he has extremely brittle hands that are prone to breaking (like Floyd but worse) . Artem is known as one of the toughest mma fighters and he has only been stopped once early in his career.

would you lose respect for artem if he lost to a fresh out of retirement Paulie , and would it look bad for MMA in general to you?

His punching power doesn't really matter. Artem has terrible striking defense, which leaves himself constantly open for counters. Malignaggi is very far away from his prime but has still more than enough tools to completely dominate extremely one-dimensional striker like Artem.

No, Paulie is a world champ and this is just boxing, no kicking, grappling or subs. Artem got eliminated from TUF in the house entry fight, then needed an unprecedented draft so Conor would not leave the show, that is how mid tier/low level he is. The only larger blow than Artem beating Paulie would have been Conor KO'ing May - Paulie is really like Mayweather to Paulie, that is really how large the gap is.

This fight sounds worse & worse everyday. No comment.

I'm expecting Conor to end up making headlines in some capacity with this fight aswell.

Artem has a sub 500 mma record man..... he is a regional level fighter that happens to know Conor.

he went without ever having been stopped in the UFC against respectable opposition.

If Paulie, who is not known for stopping people, is able to stop Artem, it looks bad.

Put it like this, in 44 fights, Paulie only has 4 stoppages inside of 5 rounds. This fight will likely be 5x2min.

...

We need to know what the glove situation is going to be because if they look anything like some of the pics being floated around here then BKFC/Artem/Paulie are about to do a number on the reputation of mma.

lol as if brittle hands Paulie is gonna finish Artem in BKFC.

the gloves are still a big issue though

No different than Sylvia losing to that boxer

It's a lot different...."That Boxer" Was Michael Moorer, he was a hugely respected ex world champion, and the fight took place under MMA rules. MASSIVE difference.

Paulie V Lobov is taking place in a completely different sport.

If Lobov gets stopped, he gets stopped while fighting a pro boxer, in a boxing event. In my eyes, it's totally the other way around. If Paulie loses, boxing looks a lot worse. Paulie has mouthed off so bad, acted to disgustingly, other pro boxers will ask him to leave his gloves in the ring if he loses. Maybe even if he doesn't.

Even as a boxing fan first, I would say no.
I think the whole boxing vs MMA thing is dumb, childish and non sensical to begin with though.

It doesnt effect anything.
Its a show thats all.
Just enjoy the ride where you can.

An MMA fighter should always lose to a boxer in boxing and vice versa

It's only embarrassing when a guy loses in their own sport

And it's not like Artem was a good MMA fighter lol he's got a losing record
But they're competing in something that's neither boxing nor MMA.

The bare knuckles make a huge difference. You can't rely on regular boxing defense because it's much easier to get in between the guard without gloves.
