Paulie has never ever been known for having punching power and on top of that he has extremely brittle hands that are prone to breaking (like Floyd but worse) . Artem is known as one of the toughest mma fighters and he has only been stopped once early in his career.

would you lose respect for artem if he lost to a fresh out of retirement Paulie , and would it look bad for MMA in general to you?

Artem has a sub 500 mma record man..... he is a regional level fighter that happens to know Conor.

Also idk if this been posted but it's pretty lit .

He was in the TUF finale, you're selling him a little short imo.
After being gifted another shot on one the worst seasons of TUF in years. How did he do in the final and his fights in the UFC, he embarrassed himself.

An MMA fighter should always lose to a boxer in boxing and vice versa

It's only embarrassing when a guy loses in their own sport

And it's not like Artem was a good MMA fighter lol he's got a losing record

No, but it would look pretty bad for boxing if Paulie lost!

It would be like Tyson vs Douglas all over again.

Because the sport's integrity relies on how well Artem does in someone's backyard bareknuckled promotion? lol

Not exactly. But i don't see how it doesn't seem terrible if Artem got stopped or even worse completely chinned by such a weak puncher

Not really, the guy isn’t exactly in his prime anymore.. it would just look bad for Paulie, not necessarily boxing..

Yeah but this isn't the same "Boxing" that Paulie comes from. This is nothing like Boxing under the Marquis of Queensbury rules with 8 oz gloves starting each round coming out of your corner in a bigger square ring with corners to trap your opponent in.

Everything Paulie knows defensively, using his gloves to help cover up as well as offensively, having time to move around and establish the pace and range at the start of each round changes here.

They are competing in a small circular ring wearing no gloves and each round starts standing toe to toe as well as prolonged fighting in the clinch being allowed.

This is a totally different animal but with that said Paulie definitely has the edge in pure skill and should win but the variables make it not the forgone conclusion everyone seems to think it is just because the word "Boxing" is in the name IMO.

Not really for the reasons I already posted.

They are competing in a small circular ring wearing no gloves and each round starts standing two to two as well as prolonged fighting in the clinch being allowed.

This is a totally different animal but with that said Paulie definitely has the edge in pure skill and should win but the variables make it not the forgone conclusion everyone seems to think it is just because the word "Boxing" is in the name IMO.

And that might matter if this was say, Paulie Malinaggi vs Michael Johnson or something. An MMA fighter with some legitimate punching ability, speed, power, wrestling ability for tie ups etc. That kind of guy, or someone on that level I might be able to see overcoming the skill gap with their youth and the changes in rules

But it's Artem lol He's tough but he's a punching bag with T-Rex arms

Paulie could always break his hands though, he is a brittle old man. That's what I'm hoping for anyways. Artem is a goof but I don't get the sense he's too bad a guy and Paulie is annoying as hell.

No? Artem is not good, and he's an MMA fighter.

MMA fighters will always lose to the specialist and there's no shame or embarrassment in that. Unless it's like Demian Maia vs somebody in the BJJ world.

Mma looks bad whenever hes allowed to fight.

I don't think any rational person with even a semblance of MMA knowledge would ever think Artem embarrassed himself. Artem made the most of his limited ability, always showed up ready to fight and was humble in victory and defeat. He's got nothing to be embarrassed about.
