If MMA made it into the Olympics in the future, say the 2020 summer games, do you think it would help things like fan exposure, fighter treatment/pay, possible rules or judging changes etc?

If a guy died in the middle of the UFC cage, that wouldn't hurt the sport. Nothing will hurt the sport of MMA.

These threads are always retarded.

Will not happen so forget about it. Just enjoy the Taekwondo tournament.

Only 2 countries competes in them. USA and Brazil.

I'm not sure the UFC would allow the fighters to compete. Hell, it took Wayne Gretzky to get the NHL to agree to allow players to compete. And aren't they thinking of/already stopped NHL players from going to Olympics?

whatever crap ended up in the Olympics sure wouldn't be mma.

Better to shoot for bjj. Anything else would get watered down to shit.

Nhl players also play upwards of 100 games a year. Playing a few more for your country for free isn't the biggest deal. Fighters fight a few times a year and you want them to fight for free in a two week tournament?

It would be a kiddie version joke.

Have you seen Taekwondo in the Olympics? All that padding, strict regulations against knockout strikes, not letting fighters use hand strikes and etc...

And there's not enough countries with a deep enough talent pool to make it viable anyway.

Not that plenty of sports actually in the Olympics already are far less deserving. They got stuff like trampoline and power walking.

I don't want to see them fight in those big red foam suits that they use at local YMCA's for there rape prevention classes

HURT

Because they would bastardize the sport beyond recognition in order for it to work in the Olympics. No thank you. I'd rather see an existing sport like Combat Sambo be accepted by the Olympics as-is than see MMA in the Olympics.

Didn't they try to like get rid of wrestling recently? That's a sport that's been in the Olympics since Ancient Greece thousands of years ago. I hardly think they would bring in Sambo or Submission Wrestling if they have to be heavily lobbied to keep wrestling.

BJJ would actually work as an Olympic sport, kind of easy to see since Judo is one as well.

It wouldn't help or hurt, there's a crapton of Olympic "sports" that are unpopular AF. Popularity of a sport isn't based on whether it's in the Olympics or not.

There was discussion by the IOC to drop wrestling due to cost concerns. They actually considered dropping it from the list of 26 core Olympic sports to leave just 25 core sports.

i wonder why its not in the olympics. the arts are only practiced by them selves for some reason.

I'm ashamed to say the thought that the fighters would have to fight for free never crossed my mind or was a factor of consideration. I sincerely change my mind and agree that MMA in the Olympics is no bueno
