I'm not saying it's all sunshine for Olympic athletes and the the IOC and organizers don't make money off of the dedication of the participants, but there sure seems to be a lot of athletes come up and look super happy when they win despite not being paid. They know what they are getting themselves into and if money were a major issue I don't think you'd get the high level of dedication out of it. I'm willing to be wrong though.

I think it would have to be very stripped down, so damage is not accumulated in the first fights. There would have only been 3-4 fights in the ancient Olympics.

I think you nailed it there, injuries can happen in these other sports but MMA's are different, take a beating and they aren't going to let you perform again even if you won, in that short a period.

And if that means head gear and pads like the boxing, no thanks, I'll pass.

Speaking exclusively to Boxing News, IBA president Umar Kremlev was open to discussing the matter in an official capacity. Understandably guarded in some of his responses, especially around the nature of the tests taken by Khelif and the exact test results, Kremlev told BN that undisclosed tests were administered on behalf of IBA, which guided the decision-making process.

“We cannot disclose the exact tests and their results due to the confidential nature of medical information,” stated Mr Kremlev.

“However, we can confirm that all procedures were done according to the IBA Technical & Competitions Rules, which clearly define the genders and their eligibility.
