Woodley WRECKED Maia and made it look easy [gifs]

I agree. Thats why I've never said this was an exciting fight, or that Woodley put on an exciting performance.

I'm not prepared to defend an argument I never made.

How exactly can you wreck someone an admittedly boring and largely uneventful fight? Is that not a contradiction in terms? You emphasized that he stuffed a bunch of takedowns. It's impressive but does that really constitute wrecking your opponent? What about standing and blocking your opponent's punches as you do nothing in return? I understand that it's obviously beneficial to play defense but you don't score offensive points in doing so unless you counter. The only real example of significant offense from Woodley was one big punch landed in a five-round fight. That is not going to put asses in the seats. Even if you try to glamorize it with flashy terms like "wrecked." He did a fantastic job of doing the bare minimum to win the fight.

Present to me the welterweight who beats Lawler, Wonderboy and Maia in a row.

What does that have to do with his fighting style which often times involves large bouts of inactivity? This isn't a debate about winning, losing or fight record. It's about how you win.

Go back and watch his fight with Rory (which he lost and was taken down). He looked like a deer caught in headlights most of the time did he not? It's not like I am inventing something brand new out of thin air. This pattern of his has been well established over time and recognized by most fight fans.

You say that all the time but the gifs don't lie.

Am I supposed to believe you or my lying eyes?

Tyron dropped Maia like a sack of potatoes. He pinged him with big punches and made an absolute mess out of his face.

Everyone - EVERYONE - knows Maia will grab you and hold you until the bell rings if you let him near you. There is no secret about it, his nickname is literally - can't make this up - "back pack."

Only a fool would play his game. Instead he got his face broken up, lost all 5 rounds, and we can settle the claim that Maia is the best and move on to more interesting match ups.
Wheere are the gifs of Maia landing numerous straight lefts? Keep slurping the sweaty jock of the most boring (and proud of it) champion on the roster. The rest of us will continue to think as we do.

Yeah Tyron is boring man, like why couldn't he just over commit with strikes, get taken down and choked like everyone else has for our amusement ?
He should have risked it all for us in the 5th rd. Sure it might have resulted in him getting strangled but at least he wouldn't have sherdoggers claiming he's boring.

Rory is one of the most well rounded fighters in the history of MMA, and he absolutely shut down Woodley, and beat up Maia after getting dominated early on.

For taking part in the most thrilling welterweight fight of all time, where he destroyed his own face, live on PPV against Robbie Lawler, he was paid the sum of 60k to show.

...

Rory, historically a years-long company man, with a nose that may never heal, now fights for Bellator.

Fighters have no advocacy. At least being a champion, you have SOME equity. The UFC will use you up like a commodity and kick you on the way out the door, like they did to Rory.

Only a fool will take unnecessary risks under those terms.

Anyone have any gifs of Maia's dynamic offense in the fight? I like how people claim Woodley made the fight boring but they never seem to be able to show anything exciting done by his opponent. Same can be said for Wonderboy.

Funny how this is a reoccurring theme with Woodley and not the other guys. Maybe it's time to lay off the kool-aid.

Key difference being neither really speaks much on "black issues."

Can't really speak to percentages. Suffice to say, many Sherdoggers are triggered as fuck by Woodley.

Wrecked as in made his face unrecognizable with punches and dropped him like a sack of potatoes.

Are we living in some parallel universe where we are all going to pretend Tyron Woodley doesn't punch hard?
He did that on the first punch of the fight, and Maia was still standing. No one said Tyron doesn't punch hard, he's a freak of an athlete. I however; will agree Maia could of done and should of done more, his TD attempts were terrible. If he wanted to TD Tyron , he could of thrown leg kicks without having to worry about being taken down and if he did that's what he wanted anyways. Both fighters were at fault for making this a boring fight.

I think that is completely fair.

what a boring fight

woodley didnt wrecked maia, just landed a couple more shots

and he cheated 3 times by holding on the cage to avoid the takedown

i

It was more dominant than Anderson Silva's fight with Maia, but no less boring

A) There's only one Woodley and only one Maia in mma. And...

B) Not every mma fight is a T. Woodley vs D. Maia. Sooooooooo........

Its as true as it ever was, styles make fights.

We get to move on from this one.
