I'm not suggesting he should. I'm not suggesting WME should do stunt bookings in the first place.
My point stands though - if you want to do stunt bookings with exhibition level talent, then you should expect exhibition level performances.
If you ask a champion to fight the #1 contender three times in a year, in a system where the entire program is built around 'winner takes all' then you should expect people to secure the win in the most sensible manner possible.
Rory beat the current champion in Woodley, and #1 contender in Maia. He put on what is universally considered one of the most thrilling welterweight fights of all time, live on PPV, against Robbie Lawler for the title.
The UFC paid him 60K for this.
He now fights elsewhere.
Yeah very good point and Rory is a great example of that system gone wrong.
"Fight exciting' but 'we only reward winners'. Maybe it is unfair of me to blame Woodley for the current situation.
