the officer drew his weapon when the driver began reversing the car. He fired and sidestepped to avoid being run over when she began moving forward. The next two shots could be deemed unnecessary but I don’t think that’s relevant.
In hindsight, with video, it was an unnecessary waste of life.
In the moment it’s a split second call. The officer got it wrong for the same reason refs get it wrong. Shit happens.
It’s an individual’s responsibility to not do stupid shit. Play silly games, win silly prizes.
Out of interest, is it SOP for officers to stand in front of vehicles they are concerned are going to make a run for it?
