Not only did Robertson win nab her Rodriguez #9 but retiring her opened up the door for Loma to finally get ranked #15 (even if her last win was uninspired she's got a good UFC record) should open up a good name for her.

i'm a little surprised, but thrilled - this'll make her the first thai to be ranked in the UFC too :)

looking up the rankings i'd say loma would get past luana pinheiro easily, but everyone upwards would be a tough test. it's mostly to do with loma's low output. on a good day i could see her getting past ribas but that's about as optimistic as i can allow myself

Just another fight where it’s like, “eh, okay.”

Battle of the middling Brazilians. At least there are rankings on the line, and Ribas is fighting in the same division twice in a row.

Anyone taking the odds on Inaba?

So SALT is the current Pancrase strawweight champ, but went back to home promotion Shooto recently and lost there. Machi is who Rizin want to be their next female star. Hometown fight or SALT, but Rizin wants Machi to win. At least they have Machi facing a strawweight this time, after a Korean atomweight her last time out. Although, it’s the same strawweight that got taken down and submitted by Microweight champ Saori Oshima. SALT will have a nice ht./reach advantage, but she’ll really need to work on her sprawl and putting the jab out there

Ditcheva is gonna make me consider actually finally watching a PFL card instead of waiting for the fights to be uploaded to youtube. Is there a sensible way (ie: no bullshit "apps" like "fite.tv" or "dazn" etc.) to see PFL?

if you're lucky maybe PFL will have a broadcast deal with a local network or attached to an existing streaming service. in Australia I can watch PFL through Stan, which I only subbed to for the Olympics.

Fuck. Seems like it's Dazn here. And I refuse to use either Dazn or Fite.Tv due to their names.

So i'll watch later for free then.

ufc picks this week - the "old guard gets smeshed :(" edition

- jas jas is huge and is gonna smesh jessica in front of a home crowd :'( jas GNP

- alexa is coming back from a leg injury, i expect that n. silva is gonna exploit that by kicking the everloving hell outta it :'( silva TKO

- i don't actually believe that manon has what it takes to beat val, but for this edition i'm gonna go with (relative) youth and physicality. IF manon doesn't gas too badly then i could see her forward motion persuading the judges that she won it. fiorot UD

Hopes:
-Fiorot or Val entertainingly
-Grasso (Silva ok too)
-Violence

Fears & Expectations:

-Val boringly
-Grasso is not really back from injury and either re-injures mid-match or the fight is just bad due to that
-Leaning

SHEV - I always thought this would be an easy fight for her years ago (after all she beat fullsize Holly Holmuu and Manon is the diet version), now it's here I'm not so sure though. But I think Val is still way craftier on the feet. I'm surprised a lot of people think Val will need to wrestle vs Manon's striking - I think it's Val's striking vs Manon's wrestling. Also think Manon might have cardio trouble.

GRASSO - because how can anyone be disloyal to Alexa?
<GrassoBless>
(Silva has looked good but against v slow grapplers or v old and slow kickboxers - Alexa isn't so slow, is at her peak, has dem handz, and is the rightful CHAMP if not for Val's FSB dirty tricks getting endless rematches until she could snatch the belt back and run off to the hills).

JASU - hopefully via Cachoeiraesque beating. Down with Andrade! 😡

Wouldn't mind shev proving me wrong but I don't think she's got enough left for a beast like Manon so I'm picking Manon.

I like grasso but I love silva so I'm picking the train to roll on.

Jaz should be able to comfortably out grapple Andrade.

That's where I see her current sealing now too I'd also like to think she'd be Pennington who's getting older. Her losses are already to hill and Loopy so I don't think she's currently improved enough for them
