Now the "Fuck." is aside.

Manon rallied well after the 1st, and made it a real fight, forced Val to move away from the lay & pray routine we saw in Grasso 3. Thought Manon won 2,3,5 pretty clearly but it is what it is. Biggest pity is how unprepared she was in round 1 - giving up a round that way is a bad way to start. But a real learning experience no doubt and proved beyond a doubt she's at the very top of the division. Good fight - mostly thanks to Fiorot, Val would have been content to stand still and counter and lay on top if possible if not forced.

Silva really is legit. Damn fast and being able to do that for full 15 minutes without slowing down on that level. Grasso’s few moments were nice, but good decisive win for Silva. So guess it's time for her to fight for the title next - and hope it stays on the feet.
 
Great fights tonight. Jas got the quick stoppage which I thought was there Andrade been giving up alot lately if she's facing adversity. Hope it gets a POTN.
Silva just picked Grasso apart for fun and deserves the next shot already. And I think she can outwork Val too she's not going to rush into right hands like Manon.

Happy to be wrong and see Val defend but it was razor close I wouldn't have been surprised if had gone to Manon but I do feel like you should have to beat the champion to win and Val did the beating even if had been Manon 2,3,5.

I don't know what to make of Grasso anymore. I can't tell if she's actually good or she just got lucky against Shevchenko. She fights like Brandon Moreno used to where you're probably not going to finish her but too much movement gives her problems.
 
Andrade showing up in the cage with a muffin top and no abs was pretty sad, I thought it might be a 50/50 fight if Jessica showed up in shape but it looks like she doesn't care anymore. Jasmine can be pretty willing to stand & trade so I thought Andrade would have good chances to tag her, but Jessica looked lost out there. Once Jasmine got it down to the mat it was pretty much a wrap.

Grasso couldn't figure out how to deal with Natalia's speed & movement, she kept looking for clean entries but couldn't find them thanks to Silva's movement and spent way too much time chasing and resetting. She kept trying to jab into range while Silva just slipped out the side and hit her with counters, Grasso never figured out how to use kicks or hooks to cut off the movement. Natalia abused her speed & footwork advantage and never let Grasso find the range or get her timing & rhythm, it looks like she did her homework with her team and came up with a winning plan.

Valentina is still Valentina for about a round, Manon was completely outclassed in the 1st but started having more success once Shevchenko slowed down. Val is now having to do the good old Robbie Lawlor trick of taking large parts of a round off then trying to steal them with a good sequence, she doesn't win rounds beginning to end like she used to. Not exactly a fun fight, but Valentina is now tied with Nunes for most title defences in the UFC with 8.
 
Andrade just shows up for a paycheck now, milking her former champ status in two divisions where in my opinion she doesn't even deserve to be ranked anymore. Being so happy that the fight is finally over and she can take her money and go home looks a bit silly at this point. Not shitting on Jessica by any means, but, not really interested to see her fight anymore honestly.

Alexa's confidence took big hits in her last two fights, haven't won a single round... And if in Shev 3 fight she could somehow rationalize that she was beaten by boring wrestling tactics, then losing a striking match in such a dominant fashion is gonna be a hard blow. She just simply didn't have enough tools to deal with Silva tonight. Not sure where she goes from here, looks stuck in limbo for a moment

Val - Manon fight turned out to be slightly more entertaining than I expected, but mainly in the beginning of it. Honestly thought she was gonna finish her after round 1. But as already was mentioned, she probably can't maintain the pace for that. Still confident 3-2 for her in my eyes with her having biggest moments in the fight.
 
For once I was relieved that Val got the nod, the thought of another series of rematches would have killed off what enthusiasm I might still have for WMMA. Same goes for a Shevchenko v Weili "superfight." Just give Silva a crack at the title while she's still the right side of 30.

Her kicks have been a mystery for me for a long time, like she trains it a lot judging by her training vids but never fully confident in it. It's weird. She often starts a kick, then like changes her mind halfway through and ends up just losing a balance and orientation. Obviously, not everyone has the agility and plastics of Silva but I really feel Alexa could've added a couple of well trained kicks in her arsenal. Low, front, side, literally anything would've served her better then these timid half-attempts.

Natalia is one of those girls who I knew was going to be in a championship fight the moment I saw her UFC debut. I'm kind of surprised the UFC gave her such a slow route to the top to be honest.

Anyways, Grasso and her whole camp are really bad at dealing with fighters who have good lateral movement. We've seen Dumont expose this against aldana, Volk expose this against diego, and now Natalia expose it against grasso. That camp needs to make some changes.

The thing is though thinking about the fight what was the plan? They had to know Silva was going to do her best to try and stay at kicking range but take the kicks out of it from Grasso. There was not even an attempt to establish the jab in the fight from Grasso. What I have seen boxers do (like JDM did) was use the teep kick to establish the range. Then from there use the boxing.
 
I just wanted to bring attention to these two months of women's flyweight including the weekend we're going to see all the top ten in action by the end of July. And with Ariane vs Cong only 3 top 15 not booked yet JJ, O'Neal and karine who I can see any combination of them matchuped up vs each other soon. Great to see from those 16 women.

I wouldn't be mad if we must see a super fight but I too rather see shev vs Silva and welli vs Verna who had a long wait and multiple number one contender fights and being robbed of fight with Tatiana so she could cut the line to the Aussie PPV without getting hurt. So I'd say we see those two fights then it's super fight time.

JJ just fought a couple of months ago, i wouldn't mind seeing karine vs. casey

jack slack pointed out that no-one at lobo seems to know how to cut the ring, which i thought was a good point.
what stood out to me while watching live was alexa's poor wrestling technique (which i think was one of gameplans) and poor problem solving when a gameplan fails. i think lobo have hit their ceiling, and i'm not alone in thinking that.
