Signings/Scouting WMMA Discussion #29

You missed the main event of the weekend!
Petra Částková vs Wiktoria Czyżewska is the opening bout of KSW on Satuday, which according to Tapology kicks off at 01:00 PM ET (...what do Extra-Terrestrials have to do with anything?)
Wiktoria just turned 20 two weeks ago and is looking to bounce back from her first pro loss.
As someone who knows talent when I see it (source), definitely a fighter to look out for.

Doesn't she date her much older looking coach too? That's always a good strategy.

Amanda Lemos vs. Mackenzie Dern. Dern. Underdog is Dern but she often confounds expectations. There's a chance Lemos can really crack her and get a KO. But Dern can take a punch and if she can hit some takedowns she can win.

Andrea Lee vs. Miranda Maverick. Maverick. Lee has fought in many close decision fights that go the other fighter's way. Expecting the same. Maverick could also grab an arm bar.

Maybe she's following the Veronica Macedo blueprint:
(1) fight in Poland, get engaged to an older dude/coach/whatever
(2) get signed to the UFC, dump him now you er, 'know your worth' and play the field
(3) marry a British dude who magically makes you actually start getting good at MMA at last.

note to Wiktoria: you can speed things up by jumping straight to step (3), just saying.

Ayaka Hamasaki injured, out of her fight next week:

Teammate Saori Oshima has stepped in:

Oshima is a good replacement as far as the ground game goes, but she’s years behind her as far as stand up, and Claire Lopez can crack

I like her proposed title fights for Strawweight and f.yaeight, but the Atomweight one is terrible. DeCoursey is coming off of losing the title, and showed nothing in that fight, to my memory, worthy of getting another shot. Meanwhile, Katie Saull, well, Mac is being nice to her friend, who’s 1-3 in Invicta (spread out over several years, with fights elsewhere in between).
I think a better matchup would be Lil Ferreira (6-2, 2-0 Invicta) vs somebody they could snatch from either Combate (Kayla Hracho) or Deep Jewels

Do you know if there is any difference between (average) starting salary for those who come up the DWCS route vs. straight signings?
A few years ago I remember seeing alot of lower level DWCS getting only 10k/10k for there starting salary.
While direct hires have been minimum 12/12k.

@leto1776 I couldn't get that Pallas fights to load could you list the fights?

Sad stuff about Nichols, she'd have been an interesting fighter for me to get to see at the Pallas event too.

Anyone got any news on Lauren Murphy's exodus from the rankings. I read somewhere it's "inactivity" but that makes no sense with a fight coming up which was going to propel Silva up the standings? In before this fight is off.

Check their Instagram. They haven’t announced all the fights yet. Drawing it out like they did their previous events.

Murphy/Silva has been off. I believe Murphy cited injury. That’s why they immediately pulled her from the rankings

Thanks for the news the article I saw said the opposite now it makes sense.
Tap even shows Silva vs lipski now

Szabova returns to mma for the first time since 2021. Took 2022 off due to a wicked STD that takes over 9 months to recover from, then had three striking matches last year. At 5-3, Gumienna is a good return opponent. Has the experience, but not the wins. More recently active than Szabova, too.

Amanda Lemos vs. Mackenzie Dern.
First round was tense. In the first half of the round Lemos showed good form in the standup, where she hits precise and hard and in the scrambles where she has clearly put in work toward improvement. In the second half of the round Mack hit some good takedowns and found better rhythm in her wrestling and grappling.
Second round was all Lemos. Superior footwork and precise strikes busted Dern's face. The ref nearly called the fight. What a round for Lemos!
Beginning of the third round a defiant Dern raised her arms to indicate "Let's go!" to the delight of the crowd. What a warrior! Dern won the third round by out working her opponent and via grit and determination. Great sportsmanship from both fighters during and after this entertaining fight! The crowd gave them both a well deserved standing ovation.
The decision went to Lemos. Kudos to both women for earning a fight of the night bonus!

Miranda Maverick vs. Andrea Lee. Maverick demonstrated her skills as a wrestler and grappler, with improved striking too. Lee had some moments but they weren't often. By the beginning of the third round Lee appeared defeated. UD for Fear the Maverick. Look forward to seeing what's next for MM.
