Signings/Scouting WMMA Discussion #29

What’s up with Jorand? Still with Combate? They promote their fights so badly.

Hmmm....do you think anyone will notice if she switched places with Phetjeeja?

I would. Comment about Loma and head movement still stands. Even with half-assed boxing coaching she would not get hit in the damn head so much. And this matters even more because she is small for the division.

UFC should open 105. Yeah, I know, we have discussed this before but it remains true. From Tapology, and some of the women at 145 have made 135 quite a few times.

Do you know if there is any difference between (average) starting salary for those who come up the DWCS route vs. straight signings?
Standard is 12/12, but I think some fighters get more, if they really impress.

UFC’s loss is Ares’ …well, they gained a “UFC veteran,” I guess

As far as I can tell, yes. Sadly, she seems to be permanently at Goat Shed, due to dating a fighter there,

As for Combate, saying they “promote their fights so badly” would imply they promote them at all, when in reality they can’t be arsed to do that. Meanwhile….

Not renewing someone who’s 2-0 with 2 finishes is such a Combate decision to make

Fresh off not capturing the Oktagon title yesterday, Eva Dourthe back in action next month, facing Flore Hani for the vacant Hexagone Strawweight title

Yeah, discussed this with my wife who is a full professor in multiple fields so I expected a lengthy reply. Instead "Combate has always been fucking stupid where women are concerned."

Did y'all see this ? -

Like best ref ever isnt he? He aswell stopped fight prematurely later on and Girl in top position lost...<45>

The stoppage being premature is arguable, as she got dropped three times in fast succession. It’s clear they were trying to give the “French” fighter a win, however.

Although he's a casual now who doesn't even watch MMA anymore (or so he keeps claiming 🤨), thread regular @Rizz 's dick pill company is now an official UFC sponsor! Congratulations Rizz!

(any chance of a free sample? asking for a friend)

I guess you found out what I was doing when I stopped watching MMA as much.

That's sad, I'd been a fan of Nichols for a long time. She had a cool mt/kickbox career. Close fights with Meksen & Van Soest, borderline robbed again Iman Barlow, and upset a bunch of popular regional fighters on their home turf (Gong Li, Sawsing, Kwanjai, Saifah, etc).

She was someone I wished the UFC had signed several years ago. Would have probably been a fun Jojo/Hill action type.

Ashley Nichols was due to fight for a belt on that Pallas card.

A comment by her uncle gave pause for reflection:

“Suicide is not a sin, it is a measurement of family, community and society, but most of all, suicide is a very sad experience for all who are impacted by it.”

RIP

You missed the main event of the weekend!
Petra Částková vs Wiktoria Czyżewska is the opening bout of KSW on Satuday, which according to Tapology kicks off at 01:00 PM ET (...what do Extra-Terrestrials have to do with anything?)
Wiktoria just turned 20 two weeks ago and is looking to bounce back from her first pro loss.
As someone who knows talent when I see it (source), definitely a fighter to look out for.
