Will Trump be the first President to go to prison?

Not happening.

No politician wants that precedent.

Besides, it is better to have something over someone to get shit done. Putting someone in jail doesn't buy you anything.
 
For being a sh*tty president, no. But he might go to jail for corrupt dealings outside of his presidential responsibilities, but I highly doubt it.

It's the New York State AG. I don't know if you know how they operate, but they usually won't go after someone high profile unless they have a strong case.

It would not be completely unprecedented, if Ford wouldn't have pardoned Nixon he would have gone to prison and yes Trump definitely went after Hillary and would have been happily seen her in jail, but there was one big problem and it's she didn't do anything illegal. You right wingers are already developing the standard right wing selective memory disorder that only seems to strike whenever a Democrat is in the WH.

I look forward to you suddenly remembering deficits matter, constantly lying is bad, checks and balances are good and so on.
 
If Trump really was the evil villain that some people think he is, and if it really looked like he wound be arrested and incarcerated as soon as he steps down, then his last Presidential act could be to issue a pardon... to everyone.

Or maybe not everyone, just all the people he would hate to be locked up with, so just all the violent criminals and criminals of colour.

They should probably tone down the "lock him up" talk until he's not in the position to grant favours to people and groups already incarcerated in the US prison system.
 
I could see a Sally Yates led DOJ really grinding on him for at least 4 years. My guess is he spends much of that time fighting legal battles over his taxes, staving off financial ruin.
 
I don't really think it's up to the democrats, unless Biden decides to pardon him.

The FBI already has like 15 investigations ongoing. If Trump uses Rudy Guiliani to defend himself, they'll probably both end up in ADX Florence.

It never happened and there is no law that describes how it would go down exactly but he would still have Secret Service protection, hence it's very unlikely he would end up in anything other than his own house or a single dorm in a camp.
