I remember Dhalsim winning a time or two, I believe,I work with a ton of Indians and they don't seem to be into MMA much. That said, India is a massive country with over a billion people. One would think they'd be able to produce a top tier fighter or two.
However all the Indians I work with don't seem to possess an athletic bone in their body. I'm confident that if my office had an open weight tournament I'd at least make it to the finals.
So, will we ever see Dana putting the belt on an Indian fighter?

yeah, fuck you.i thought you meant Natives! haha!
neither have a chance, cuz too useless.
gotta be some kind of exaggeration. If you saw a 5'7" guy looking like this at the gym, would you say he was 279 lbs? (Karelin was 284 lbs at 6'4")

a typical buff guy that height is 200lb max

You may laugh but Indian wrestlers are legit. If they switched to MMA they would beat the shit out of people. These guys are very strong.
Not likely. Theyd complain too much about the gym fees.
Does pakistani count? If so then i believe @Farhad Ahmad could be your answer. Hes just starting to develop his boxing but from what ive seen, i think he has good chances to be a future title holder

Wow. A truly amazing, inspiring and accurate recount of events. Thank you so much for enlightening us with this legendary display of class from the great Jhara Pehlwan, brother FarhadIt sounds as good as it reads ! You are just too nice The Best JG - I have always been interested in fighting (Let it be boxing, martial arts or MMA) but my time has gone. Maybe a younger Pakistani might have a chance in the UFC.
Honestly, this whole scenerio reminds me of a story, a real Pakistani story which you won't find on the internet. We had a fighter in the early 1900s - His name was Jhara Pehlwan, he was someone who was feared in the sub-continent back in the day. One day he was passing through the street when someone started a scuffle with him and hit him in the face. It started bleeding. He didn't react or hit back. Instead, he picked up his stuff and started walking away. Another person got intrigued and asked him, "Why didn't you hit him back". He said with a smile, "I feel ashamed to hit a person who is weaker than me". This is the might of a true champion. Don't you think?
You don't find such stories anymore because WE ARE responsible for the extinction of our fight industry. It doesn't mean we haven't had legends in the past!
LOL seriously? Where the fuck have you been, living under a rock? It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of WHEN.

Maybe if MMA becomes popular there. Out of 1+ billion people some off them are bound to have some great talent for fighting.
Glad there's a poster who's been here long enough to remember the Satish Jha era. I think it originated on cameldog.
i don't know any athletic Indians either, but there is probably just a tad of selection bias considering all of the ones most of us interact with are here because they're scientists, engineers or code monkeys.I work with a ton of Indians and they don't seem to be into MMA much. That said, India is a massive country with over a billion people. One would think they'd be able to produce a top tier fighter or two.
