Why was Rhonda so hated?

Tbh no one on sherdog talked shit about her until she lost. Lol

because of UFC bullshit surrounding her...

and because of army of triggered basement dwellers ;)

If she wasn't such a bitch, I would still love her. The disrespect that she showed Holm before their fight was the last straw for me.

Other than the mole?

Because she was ducking Cyborg. Yeah, yeah, different weightclass by 5 lbs, but still the only interesting girl fight.

She was a huge hypocrite and played into the hype that she could beat men, among many other things.

I don't hear people shitting on Holly Holm or Miesha like they did with Ronda...can't imagine why that would be.

I don't give a shit about TUF and haven't since TUF 2.

You are free to not watch but I guess you'll never understand part of why people hate her.

Rhonda never ducked fights or backed down. She was an active champ who wrecked opponents with finishes nearly every time. What gives?

She's not a humble nor a respectful person. The hype train was going too fast AND she bought into it.

That really is revisionist history.

She was 4-0 when she dropped to 135 and when Cyborg wanted a shot at her. She had already started the drop to 135 when Cyborg asked for her (Dec 2011), another in a long line of smaller, less experienced fighters that Cyborg wanted to test herself against. She never went back to 145 because she won the 135 title while Cyborg was suspended and by the time Cyborg was off suspension there was no 145 in StrikeForce and no plans for 145 in the UFC because it was a long-running anaemic division. Cyborg killed 145 in SF by testing positive at the end of Dec 2011. Honestly by most people's logic, Cyborg is ducking Budd more than Rowdy was ever ducking Cyborg, since at least Budd and Cyborg are in the same division, even if in two different organizations.

There's a lot to dislike about Rousey's later UFC persona and subsequent disappearing act, but the Cyborg drama and storyline is more unflattering to Cyborg than it is to Rousey.

Maybe that's all true, but I'm so sick of hearing about Cyborg and how everyone is ducking her.
If other fighters can easily make 135 and Cyborg struggles to make 145, then obviously, Cyborg is much bigger than them. She was also busted for stanozolol, and has a physique which is highly unlikely for a woman to be able to attain through natural means.

because people don't realize 99% of her public persona was an act / smoke and mirrors

Ronda was a heel. She wanted people to hate her. Or love her.

That's why she was so popular and could do 1 mil ppv buys.

Obviously that backfires when you start losing though.

I think in the MMA / combat sports / sports communities..a lot of times people have a difficult time separating what's real from what Is fake.

Which is great for the people trying to sell their brand and fights I suppose.

You might not like the show but during that season people saw a side of Rhonda that most didn't like. A lot of people started to view her negatively after that season. For good reasons really. I personally think a lot of it was for the cameras but she wasn't a good "bad guy". Instead of "tough girl" it came across as bitch.

Her unholy cankles brought a curse that will plunge the world into darkness for 1000 years

Um...yes, I agree?

15. Her Mom

I can't understand it, myself. I'm one of her biggest fans. I even bought her book for my teenage daughter. She never missed weight, never pulled out of a fight, defended her title 6 times, performed all of her media obligations, and made WMMA mainstream. What more could you ask of her? You want her to be humble and demure, too?

Who gives a shit if it's smoke and mirrors if that's what you choose to portray publicly? Ronda acted like an asshole so people treat her like an asshole.

A nun could be chaste and dress like a whore...she can't really complain when people that don't really know her assume she's a whore. Dave Chappelle summed it up much better than I ever could:

Ronda was cool as fuck prior to joining the UFC.

after that her public persona did a 180

Coincidentally she became GOOD friends with Chael sonnen around the same time.

People don't even realize what they hate about her Isn't even real for the most part.

It's like hating on Conor for talking all the shit he does, or Floyd for the same thing throughout the years.

Truth is, none of us really know who they actually are behind the scenes

Because her whole shticks was silly/revolting at the height of the hype train.

Seriously, look up some Cain Velasquez beating, etc.

That's too bad, because her blitzkrieg grappling was great to watch.

Would be cool to see her come back to serious competing, trying to fix her inability to strike, but doesn't seem like we can have it.

its the fucking entertainment industry man.

People do what they can to sell themselves, their brand, promote fights, make money and achieve success In whatever way possible. Why would I hate on them for that? Play the game. That's what you do.

Why would I act like that's how their real personality Is when by all accounts, It's probably just an illusion. Same can be said for Ronda, Conor, Floyd, Ali and any number of prominent figures both In combat sports and outside of It.

People can obviously form whatever conclusions they want about a person, particularly when they're the ones who created this image of themselves. Doesn't mean It's actually real though. To me, In many ways It's like hating on a WWE character.
