Why was Conor Khabib's toughest opponent?

its very debatable bro,
3 was a convincing round for Conor, it's not really debatable. But I do agree Khabib was biding his time. He did it against Iaquinta too.
khabib was striking and playing with his food showing mcrat that his so called "striking" isnt worth making a fuss about it, yeah he "won" on point but khabib proved his point ont he 3rd round and effortlessly finished the rat on the fourth round when he CHOSE to

Conor totally got his ass kicked.
But let's not pretend that khabib can hold his own in the striking without the massive threat of his wrestling game.
In any standup only affair, Conor smokes khabib on the feet, as do a lot of former khabib opponents.
Conor didn't even come close to getting koed either so that's completely ludacris. I'm not even sure if that counted as a drop either.
Khabib was like gsp in the that the threat of his grappling opened alot of standup opportunities.
For as much of a monster khabib was, and how relatively unsuccessful Conor has been, he did do pretty well against khabib. Unfortunately for him doing pretty well doesn't win fights and at no point was he close to winning.
For as much as everyone hates Conor on this forum it's kind of annoying to hear him discounted and bashed constantly even though he was very elite in his prime and accomplished tons of great things.
Hate the person not the fighter.

Conrat won't beat Khabib in a striking match. Conrat won't K.O. him which is necessary for Conrat. He will outpoint him in the first rounds and then will get exhausted. Khabib will turn his lights out in the later rounds.
It's a myth that Conrat has world-class striking. He has only one weapon which is his counter strike. Something Khabib completely figured out in the fight and was full aware of it.
Khabib won't make stupid decisions like Aldo to take him out with his chin first.
Khabib will pressure him without any risk.
Khabib fight IQ is million times better than Conrat. He will make Conrat panick by talking to him in the first round.
'You'de better take me out soon. After the 3rd round I will beat you up.'
Conrat will try to go for the kill and burn himself out.
You guys are believing too much in the fairy tale of striking of Conrat.
He couldn't even stand with Poirier lol.

Literally got that far and quit reading.
I'm sorry that your parents dropped you on your head as a child.

Do you think that sounds remotely clever or funny either? You sound like a 5th grade boy. Grow up
<{cruzshake}>

He was taken down three times because he couldn’t manage to get up. Trujillo got taken down 21 times because Khabib couldn’t control him.

How will Conrat defeat Khabib?
Trying to bait Khabib in throwing his right hand for his predictable counter strike?
That's basically his only chance.

Only taken down 3 times lmao. He was held down for at least 3 minutes each time. If you can’t get up, you won’t be taken down all that much after. Also, regardless of what people think, Conor is a very skilled fighter. Of course he gave Khabib some resistance. That said, there was only one competitive round.

It doesn't make any sense. How on earth did a "washed" "Not even a top 10 LW" Conor return from boxing and a whirlwind of partying yet somehow

1. Win a round?

2. Achieve the highest sig strikes (51) success of any Khabib opponent? (For comparison, Poirier landed 12)

3. Get taken down just 3 times in 4 rounds? (For comparison Poirier 7 times in 3 rounds, Al Laquinta 6 times in 5 rounds, RDA 6 times in 3 rounds)

4. Make it to round 4? Only Al Laquinta lasted longer.

A performance made all the more extraordinary given how much Khabib wanted to destroy Conor more than any other opponent and how easily Khabib would later (with retirement on his mind and one foot already out of MMA) defeat Dustin and Gaethje, who he 'didn't want to hurt'

Conor's performance goes a long way to explain Khabib's post fight psychotic rage and refusal to grant Conor a deserved rematch, he was clearly stunned by Conor's performance and who could blame him?
Didn’t get as many takedowns because Conor wasn’t good at getting back on his feet to be taken down again. Also Conor cheated multiple times, basically admitted that his whole act was a fraud, and asked the ref to make khabib stop hurting him when it was all said and done.

Rightfully so. The former double champion only has 1 loss in the UFC against an opponent he han't destroyed before

Khabib was blessed with being brought up under Abdulmanop while Conor stayed loyal to a bum gum. The story of this fight. Yet still performed the best out of 28 others after boozing on whisky, dealing with multiple civil cases, and coming into the contest with a ballooned up foot

Lol at anyone thinking Conor was truly khabibs toughest matchup lol

To be honest imo his toughest matchup was against Tibau.

It's not debatable. There was a clear discrepancy in striking.

Whether or not you think Khabib was "playing" doesn't change the fact that Conor outstruck himn and won the round. Don't let your biases cloud your judgment.

Give ME a break. Khabib didn't "take a break". He wanted to lay the whooping on Conor on the feet after he tired him out with wrestling.

Unfortunately, that plan failed since he lost the round. A gassed Conor still outstrikes a fresh Khabib.

Khabib did not "allow" Conor to hit him. That's silly. No fighter wants to get hit.

TS is correct on the whole. I don't even believe the so called cheating should be taken into account. Every fighter tries to get away with stuff every once in awhile, whether it's an eye poke or a fence grab. The ref allowed it, so it's a level playing field as far as I'm concerned.
Of course it's a level playing field to you, cause it fits your idiotic argument

OK, let me start with this: I NEVER said Khabib had better striking than COnor.
I 100% agree with you that it was the threat of takedowns that elevates Khabib's striking, and if this was just striking Conor wins.
But all of the above are 100% irrelevant, since this was an MMA fight and BOTH fighters knew.

I don't understand all these excuses to make Conor look better. He didn't. He actually looked terrible.
But that was expected in such fights where a distinct clash of styles happen. One guy imposes their style and makes it look easy.

Don't blame Conor's haters here.
It is actually Conor's fanboys that can't stomach how terrible he fared, how badly he lost (including the standup) and in their minds, they are still making up excuses for it.
It doesn't matter the excuses.
he lost! Learn to deal with it.

lol
sorry, kid. But you are far too gone.
So cheating is ok, the fact COnor was almost KO'd is fine as long as the judges gave him the round, and Khabib could not take a break.

and all of it just so you have (in your mind) a small victory of winning a round.
Take it, kid.
He lost the war, and you can't stomach it.

Why are we making Khabib threads still?
He retried in his prime with 3 defences, not sure why he's still relevant at all really.

Reading this thread one could think khabib lost the fight with all the khabib fans crying..
