Why was Conor Khabib's toughest opponent?

LOL
sorry, but we didn't watch the same fight, let alone share the same reality.

Conor won a round because Khabib took a break.
Khabib took a break to show he could stand and bang with Conor, a thing Conor fanboys would NEVER accept. And Khabib almost KO'd Conor, just to add to the humiliation in that fight.

Khabib allowed Conor to strike more against him to show he could take it. Same ad Floyd did, by the way. They both toyed with Conor and then showed he was not on their level.

Conor had nothing for Khabib, same as he had nothing for Floyd.

It is amazing and amusing the fact Conor fanboys still did not grasp the reality of his failure.

So much teen angst in this post.

Not sure Conor won the third, but clearly Khabib just wanted to show he wasn’t one dimensional and could throw punches.

Is there any doubt that Khabib could have taken Conor down at will and beat the crap out of him?

Couple reasons. Pressure of the moment maybe made Khabib underperform and/ or Conor over perform. Conor is also either insanely underrated or extremely overrated depending on who you talk to. It's really annoying that people either think he sucks or is the GOAT, there's hardly anyone who can be reasonable about his strengths and weaknesses.
Styles make fights also.
Conor was maybe also in his absolute prime at that point.

Conor also cheated several times and played a heavy defense/ stalling style game, begging for stand-ups.

So many variables, so difficult to know exactly what made it more competitive than you would have imagined.

It doesn't make any sense. How on earth did a "washed" "Not even a top 10 LW" Conor return from boxing and a whirlwind of partying yet somehow

1. Win a round?

2. Achieve the highest sig strikes (51) success of any Khabib opponent? (For comparison, Poirier landed 12)

3. Get taken down just 3 times in 4 rounds? (For comparison Poirier 7 times in 3 rounds, Al Laquinta 6 times in 5 rounds, RDA 6 times in 3 rounds)

4. Make it to round 4? Only Al Laquinta lasted longer.

A performance made all the more extraordinary given how much Khabib wanted to destroy Conor more than any other opponent and how easily Khabib would later (with retirement on his mind and one foot already out of MMA) defeat Dustin and Gaethje, who he 'didn't want to hurt'

Conor's performance goes a long way to explain Khabib's post fight psychotic rage and refusal to grant Conor a deserved rematch, he was clearly stunned by Conor's performance and who could blame him?
Because Conor was cheating for about 19 times in the fight and dumbass Herb Dean let him slipping away with it.

Also no-striking Khabib managed to drop Conor, how good was that TS?

WIthout cheating Khabib would've taken off Conor's left arm by the second round while Dana is watching..

In short, Conor won a round in judges' scorecard because of Herb Dean letting Conor to do his thing

Even in Cowboy fight you can see that Conor was cheating. Go watch that replay

I mean , Khabib took him down , beat him up , dropped him , stood with him for an entire round ,slapped him , choked him with a neck crank then spit on him, all while taking very little damage. It may have went 4 rounds but it was not a hard fight.
Poor Conor got abused. No wonder he has not been the same anymore.

Give ME a break. Khabib didn't "take a break". He wanted to lay the whooping on Conor on the feet after he tired him out with wrestling.

Unfortunately, that plan failed since he lost the round. A gassed Conor still outstrikes a fresh Khabib.

Khabib did not "allow" Conor to hit him. That's silly. No fighter wants to get hit.

TS is correct on the whole. I don't even believe the so called cheating should be taken into account. Every fighter tries to get away with stuff every once in awhile, whether it's an eye poke or a fence grab. The ref allowed it, so it's a level playing field as far as I'm concerned.

I believe i counted it once...i believe Conor commited 20 fouls in that fight...

One of which was a knee to khabibs head from side control bottom....an AUTOMATIC DQ as it was deliberate and purposely striking an illegal target

If theres anything to take away from that fight its not that Conor was Khabibs hardest fight...but that Conor is one dirtiest scummiest competitors to ever live and its a fight that should be used in court to show the level of Corruption in the UFC as Herb Dean did fuck all night when it comes to Conor and fouls...clear as day favoritism..

He was #1 and traind for years for Khabib per his coach he was also in his prime
he got taken down once in the first and he didn't get back up
once in the second and didn't get back up
once on the fourth and didn't get back up

Poirier and got taken down more because the kept getting back up

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Conor lost, and no amount of reaching is going to change that. And nothing in your post, in Conor's game-planning or bravado, or in his fanboys greatest dreams will ever convince me a rematch between the two would end any differently.

Cheating multiple times in every round.

If not for that, Khabib would have subbed Conor in the second round via Kimura, after dropping him standing. Would have been one of Khabib's easiest fights if not for the blatant cheating.

CLOSE THE THREAD

Ohh FFS he didnt spit on him.

Cause Conor was the only one that didn't have too much respect for Khabib.. Conor's extreme confidence albeit delusional sometimes separated him from others who fought Khabib who looked at Khabib like some God.

Most of the guys that fought Khabib lost before entering the octagon.

Laughed me ass off at taking it to court but I agree on the whole
