Let's be honest: if you were offered the choice between Batman's abilities and Superman's powers - you're signing up with Team Krypton:cool:

Anyone worth their weight in Kryptonite knows this. Duh.. Thanks for thinking about me with an Xmas card though Jack. I will still send you one. No coal in your stocking either.

I can't stay mad at you HG

your back asswards country ass is enamored with bats you've just been beguiled by Bruce Wayne's piercing blue eyes, travolta esque chin, and abs of steel. It's cool my romo slips out when I see sexyama. Tis natural.

I'm not a Comics guy, but if this Beyonder is a so freaking OP, how come he's dead?

I assert that the most important aspect of being the most powerful being in the universe is the judgment to know how not to pick battles that result in your demise. Seems logical. If you ain't alive, you ain't shit.

The sheer ridiculousness of Batman is one of the things that make him so cool. No human being, no matter how gifted or driven, could wage a one man war on crime. Especially if they restricted themselves to non-lethal methods. And that's before we get to Batman standing and banging with, for all intents and purposes, Gods.

Batman knows all this himself. He just gives zero fucks.

One of the finest examples of the Dark Knight's sheer, bloody-minded insanity was a story in which the Spectre comes to Gotham. The Spectre is one of the most powerful beings in the entire DC universe. It's up their with Lucifer. The Spectre has besmirched Superman himself. Batman decides he doesn't want him in Gotham so tells the Spectre,

Leave my city. Or I will find a way to make you leave.

Yes, this is Batman telling the Wrath of God Himself to GTFO of Dodge.

This is also why Batman is so dangerous; he's aware he can never trade punches with superhuman foes. In a fair fight, any of the JLA heavyweights would crush him like a bug. So Bat's take pains to find his enemies - and in Batman's case, a friend is just an enemy waiting to happen - weaknesses and exploit them.

I mean look at the Deapool movie.

Colossus could easily kick Gina Caranos's characther ass. But his personality got in the way and he had to be saved from being choked.

Thinking Superman his going to blitz people and cut heads is more unrealistic than him holding back and getting his ass kicked .

Haven't seen Deadpool yet (heard great things, though) but it sounds like they did the usual Colossus "look impressive then get beat to establish the villain as a greater threat" deal. Dude has the opposite of a character shield.

Yeah the entire point of colossus character is to hype up new threats when they beat the crap out of him. As a fan of the character it's pretty sad.

For a long time, I have been of the following mindset:

The greatest superhero and quite possibly the greatest character of literary history is the amazing, spectacular, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Every superhero has underlying themes, a secret-secret identity. Superman has been an allegory for the immigrant (first-gen Eastern European Jews especially) and also a messiah figure, leading to various thought experiments as to the nature of God/infinite power. Thor does thos, too. Batman is about coping with mental illness and the creation of surrogate family. Daredevil focuses on the Catholic themes of guilt and redemption through sacrifice. Fantastic Four is a narrative about a man using science to unlI'm the mystery of existence and the frontiers of reality while his family anchors him to humanity. Professor X is MLK. Silver Surfer is Siddhartha. Hulk is Frankenstein/Godzilla/Jekyll&Hyde. Green Lantern Corps? Hill Street Blues.

Spider-man has them all beat.
Spider-Man is all of that and more.
Spider-Man is a regular guy.

He never asked for his abilities. He didn't sign up for a military experiment. Didn't build a super suit or train for years in secret. Didn't even screw up a space flight or a bomb test. He just went to a damn science expo and shit happened.

And then he had to deal. Attempting to be selfish blew up in his face. Instead, he gets up each and everyday (and often to the detriment of his own wants) does what has to be done. His power is defined by his responsibilities and vice versa.

His potentional. His conscience. His conflict. His courage.

His is the story of us, one and all.

Agreed. Colossus is one of the true Marvel heavyweights. He's gone toe to toe with the Juggernaut(he lost, but Juggs was impressed). I loved the look and his interactions with Deadpool and NTW. I hated the fact they made him a Can. By all means let Gina land some good shots, but it should have ended with Colossus beating her fairly easily once he stops holding back.

Also: what happened to the option to change one's vote in the Poll?

He definitely shouldn't have needed a teenage girls help to win that fight. I was fine with it being a back and forth mainly due to him holding back, but making it look like he was going to lose and needed to be bailed out is a bit much.

Totally my issue with Battle of the Atom.
We see bearded Colossus holding a Soulsword! Gets handled by Molly from Runaways and has to be saved by Illyana. Bear up by a little girl (who has trouble with Rogue later) and has to be saved by another little girl. WTF?
