Why is Dana throwing a tantrum over Merab/Aljo?

Because Aljo just got KO'd and Merab has hand surgery on the cards and that could put him out a year. Neither will be able to fight this year most likely.
O'malley just sat out nearly a year also.

The issue is you have the number 1 and 2 guy refusing to fight. I don't actually believe a champion should get an immediate rematch ever. What should happen is Merab fights O'malley and Aljo fights someone else. It's different if Aljo lost a close controversial decision and was a 8 x defending champion and he did great at BW, but it's just 3 defences and highly controversial ones at that. Merab saying he will never fight Aljo for the belt is the issue here. I personally don't understand why they wouldn't want to get paid to do what they do in sparring all the time.
Merab's hand surgery was minor and Aljo can still fight again this year or very early next year. I'm not sure where you're getting your info from but I think you got bad information. Them not wanting to fight each other hasn't held up the division so far and I don't think it will in the near future either.

Give it to Vera

and make those two fight each other for the next shot.

Solved.

That's where the problem lays. Dana wants to do that exactly but he can't since those 2 won't fight each other.

Is this his mindset? He wants to give an undeserving guy outside of the top 5 a title shot because of past history with O'Malley and is mad the no 1 and 2 won't fight each other?

I see his logic though. Risk Merab wrestlefucking his cash cow or jump at the opportunity to make a huge fight w Vera considering the beef. If Vera hadn't won his last fight, I 'd be against it. This is the perfect time to make this fight.

With the lack of stars rn, you def want to milk the shit out of O'Malley while he's at the top. He can be bigger than Izzy if he keeps on KOing fools.

Simply put, Dana doesn't like when fighters make decisions for themselves. When fighters exercise a little autonomy with their careers, Dana throws them under the bus...and the UFC shills eat it up. It's all about power.

Because whilst we have both Merab and Aljo sitting out, you have the rest of the division all fighting each other with no actual path to the title. It's 170 all over again. The best should just fight the best. If Aljo had won and moved up, it's a non issue. Aljo isn't going to move up and shouldn't hang it up.
Sean is also going to sit on that belt for ages.
Merab will reefuse to jump over Aljo. Aljo will want a full extended camp after feeling rushed in the last fight. Merab will help for that camp, minor hand injury (usually takes ages to heal) will became aggravated. Then if Aljo beats Sean, the UFC will do an immediate rematch because they want Sean as champ. Merab still waiting for his shot and the rest of the division has all had 2-3 good wins with a bunch of contenders waiting in the wings for a shot knocking each other off.

Now it's 2025 and the division hasn't moved forward in any meaningful way just because 2 guys didn't want to get paid to fight like they do for free every single day.

O'Malley still hasn't fought most of the top guys in the division. They can still book him vs guys like Sandhagen and it would be perfectly reasonable and Mareb/Aljo wouldn't slow that down at all.

So Sterling lied again? I thought he was moving up to Featherweight win or lose. If Sterling moves up like he said he was going to then Merab would have gotten the title shot, instead he wants to stay at BW and take his “friends.” Title shot.

Dana is going to give the title shot to Chito, its going to be a F U to Merab & Sterling for wanting to complicate things and also to Sandhagen for not cementing a title shot by being boring.

I literally just posted that Merab's hand surgery was minor and he won't be out for long and that Aljo can fight either by the end of the year or early next year. Do you read the posts you reply to? There's also Vera who has a win over O'malley. Sandhagen and Cejudo are other options, there is no hold up, there's plenty of top 5 and top 10 guys O'malley hasn't fought.

Here's an article from May 31st stating that Merab will be ready to fight as early as 3 months later.

https://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/37767672/ufc-merab-dvalishvili-hand-surgery-3-4-months

Merab can fight this year easily, Aljo likely could fight by December or January if he wants to rest a bit.

Dana is willing to fight his wife, so he doesn't understand why two close friends won't fight.

Nope NOPE NOPE.
if they do the rematch aljo wins redeems his title then moves up in exchange to fight Volk, like originally planned.
OR pay aljo to MOVE UP and say if he gets a win he gets first crack at title....YOU SEE NOT SO HARD. but the problem is
will dana PAY aljo...... lets call it what it is suga sean is their cash cow

The problem is that if either one gets a title shot and wins then the other one won't fight him for the title, so it creates a problem for the rank structure, considering they're literally back to back in the ranks.

Already addressed. If Aljo wins he's moving up to featherweight. If Merab wins Aljo is moving up.

maybe if the ufc brass spent time marketing fighters the right way
and not hating on them and allowing dana to tarnish their image maybe
they could sell better ppvs. Merab aljo mighty mouse even henry are all marketable
You just got to get the right marketing team behind them.
Henry drop the cringe stuff and lets appeal to the Mexicans, or do the cringe stuff
and we will market you to the latino community. Drop the trump stuff too....

aljo ramp up the trash talk, we are gonna give you pointers on how to trash talk,
also we will talk about your home life growin up giving you a tragic anti hero backstory,
or if you wanna be a goodie too shoe, we are gonna put you around popular positive
influencers ....

Merab you just be you, put you around some funny comedians and get something going,

mighty mouse since you're a gamer you stream go on twitch go to video game tournaments tournaments
we will host em, go to game award shows, go on IGN etc etc.

THATS HOW YOU DO IT GUYS. not sit back and tarnish your own fighters just cause they dont look
or appeal to your demographic. jesus christ the fact hating on tyron woodley inside the UFC offices was an inside joke
shows you how outdated these guys are.

Vera is outside the top 5 and just lost to Sandhagen a few months ago. There's multiple contenders ahead of him, including the guy who just beat him.

So Sterling lied again? I thought he was moving up to Featherweight win or lose.

He didn't say he was moving up win or lose. He said he was definitely moving up with a win.
